Looks good Ken. One question though - is the cable that comes with the V-Cap the same pin configuration as the iPod Line Out Dock? Are they interchangable? Thanks.

Originally Posted by unclejr /img/forum/go_quote.gif Hey Izzy, The way this works is that you have your 5th gen iMod, and you take any iPod line out dock to mini cable (with the L/R/Gnd pins enabled) to connect the iMod to the V-Cap Dock. Then, you'll need another cable, such as a mini to mini, to connect your V-Cap Dock to any amplifier with a mini input. Alternatively, you can use the RCA outputs to output to an amplifier with RCA inputs, or you can mix and match RCA-to-mini and vice versa, and it should still work fine. As I understand it, the V-Cap dock includes an iPod Line Out Dock to Mini cable, so the only other cable you'd need to supply is the output from the V-Cap Dock. It is important to note that you do NOT use an IMOD Line out dock cable here, with the built in black gate caps inside. I don't know if this is harmful but it is certainly redundant. Instead, the V-cap dock houses the capacitors, so basically you just need a "wire" from the iMod to the caps. Looks great, Ken! |

There are a ton of other pins, but none of these matter as long as they are not enabled. All the line out dock needs is the Left channel, right channel, and the ground pins. As far as I know. ![]() |
