iMod Vcap dock & PORTABLE Vcap Dock - Info and Talk Soup

Just about ready to bite the bullet on the $850 Imod/V-cap system on Ken's website. Now the question: What cabling?? Jumbo Cryodock?? Already have Ken's mini-mini cryo, the rap around cryo for my 46 Imod, but wondering if I want something larger diameter for this system???

I really like the cotton dock I purchased for the v-cap portable. I also have an imod cotton dock for when I want to be a little more portable.

All in all, I don't see how you could go wrong. I think the 5.5 gen imod sounds even better than my 4g imod. Then when you add the vcap it's just amazing!!

I have the iMod/portable Vcap as well and just LOVE it! After much deliberation, I went with the Jumbo Cryo dock and matching mini-mini cable. I was quite tempted by the Jumbo cotton...but heard enough about it being a bit less portable friendly due to it's stiffer nature.

All in all...you really can't go wrong with either Jumbo cable.

Although I dunno if it's a valid claim or not (doubtful it is however), I find it funny how somebody who just expresses thier opinion is bashed. Just because he's not following the cult doesn't mean he's not entitled to his own opinion/have his own brain.

I don't like bashing very much. Its hard not to argue against those who won't or haven't tried a product before commenting, because it doesn't seem logical to them. Its fine if you don't want to try it or have scientific proof even that claims are not possible, but the power behind a small sound system using headphones is not enough for me to believe the iMod and vCap dock can't hold its own. To me, its low distortion, accuracy, and having the power to fully drive headphones through the capacitors is enough to at least give it a fighting chance against a nice CD player which may even be using the same DAC. Its more then enough clean power that runs the iMod, why would power cord tweaks be what makes a system?

Stuff like magical chips that don't even connect into the signal line and high fidelity toslink and USB cables, I understand the need to bash. But not enough voltage? Requiring the iMod to fix the problems that converting to AC to DC causes when it circumvents any need? I need to hear what you mean.

As one of the first v-dock owner I can say with quite certainty it does hang with cdps in the 1000 range.

The imod is very impressive by itself and the dock increases the sq by 3 in my estimate.

Deeper lows higher highs all very tight and accurate. I miss it and wish I had not sold mine to fund my new project.

Speculating on how something sounds just shows immaturity !

trose49,

off topic, but I noticed in your avatar that you have a raptor. How do you like it? I'm seriously considering getting one of these. Thanks.

Another happy customer here! I think I had the very first one Ken made in Myrtle & I cannot believe the iPod is capable of such good sound quality, with the help of this dock of course.
