I would like to get better sound quality music from Itunes. would a Firestone Audio Fubar 3 or Fubar 2 with cute amp combo run my hd595 better than the stock Imac's(08) sound card out of the minijack?

Yes, likely all sound cards and/or DACs will be better than "stock" onboard.

I think I'm in a need for an amp also, with a bit different setup. I have Senn 595's also, but my soundcard is Emu 0404 pci. I've read that I should have an amp with this - is it so? If it is, what do you recommend? I'm not quite sure I'd like to spend around $200 for it, but if I decide to, what should I buy (Little Dot MKIII, Corda Arietta ...?) I might be more interested with something in the $100 range. It can be portable, but it doesn't have to be.

I know nothing about amps, so any help is appreciated.

HD595 is a great can.. I would give them the proper gear to pair up.

External EMU 0404 USB (has headphone amp) is good with HD595 and is Mac compatible. Costs under $200.00.
