Not here to spoil the fun but once again feeling the need to state the following:

Buying headphones for hundreds of $ only based on recommendations and without testing them yourself sounds like madness to me. Everybody's hearing, requirements, music style, setup and so on are so different which makes it's impossible to conclude that the impressions of others translate to your personal satisfaction.

I've learned this the hard way. The only way to judge if you like a headphone is listening to it yourself with your own music - preferably on your own setup.
Buying used, test and sell if not to your liking is one way to go. Another one is finding good headphone shops with lots of gear to try and compare in all the places you travel to and go there for testing/buying. How about making your next holiday a city trip to a place which - just by coincidence of course ^^ - happens to have a decent headphone shop?

Good luck on your headphone journey :)

Thanks for the input!
I have learned a bit more since the opening of this thread.
I am of your same opinion. I traveled about an hour to find a local shop that had all of what I needed, and I got to try out a few great Headphones.
I was on the fence so I took the drive down.
I also like having other peoples opinion simply because my knowledge in this hobby is not yet up to par in my opinion.
I'm still not set on what I want, so i'll wait.
A lot of the fun for me is to hear what people have to say in their words. I also understand comparing is always subjective, but then again, this is a hobby, not a profession to me.

I appreciate your feedback!

Fair enough point :)
I also enjoy reading and exchange opinions here hehe - even though I it makes it hard to not get influenced too much when judging gear its great to know you're not the only one having this hobby :)
