I've grown "bored" of my current collection of music!

I need new artists/bands to listen to since right now, I dont want to listen to anything I have right now. So I'm asking for suggestions as to who I should check out.

As far as genres go, here's a quick list:

Industrial (ex - Skinny Puppy / NIN)
IDM/Breakcore (ex - [ERROR] / Otto von Schriach)
Hardcore (ex - Most Precious Blood / Hatebreed)
Prog-Metal (ex - Tool / Opeth)
Prog-Rock (ex - A Perfect Circle / Glassjaw)
Snyth-Rock (ex - Orgy / Julien K)

Any suggestions?

Try listening to high-quality, streaming radio. The web has a host of good sites that will expose you to a great deal of esoteric titles/artists. I can't remember how many times I've heard phenomenal tracks that resulted in the acquisition of the records they belonged to.

I stream at home the majority of time and save my collection for the road/gym. That way everything stays fresh.

Classical, jazz, world... country?

I'm not joking. There's a world of other music out there waiting for you. Try something totally different from what you usually listen to. Get some CDs that would freak out your friends if they saw them on your coffee table. Hit a used music store and buy a few discs that look interesting.

You'll be surprised at how much great music there is that you never knew you liked.

Try Pandora. I learned about so many artists and composers using this, and I'm so glad. Some of my favorite composers I first heard on Pandora.

Just type in a band and it plays similar music. It's a great tool (free too).

I'm telling you Flower Travelin Band, awesome 70's band from Japan. They rock HARD while still being psychedelic. Cool beans in my opinion.
Also Check out:
NEU!
Fela Kuti
Klaus Shulz
Schastakovich(sp?)
The Liars

The above is just off the top of my head. Uncle Erik is right, there is so much good music out there it's ridiculous. It makes me made that I wont be able to ever listen to it because I'll never know that it ever existed.

I can suggest a few great industrial bands:

OhGr
Add N to (x)
Pigface
Download (OK, so those 4 all contain at least one member of Skinny Puppy, but they're great!
Pygmy Children
KMFDM

...and in terms of transcending genres, you can't go past Ween.

do a last fm account, listen to your music for about a week or two, let Last.FM figure your taste and then check your neighbors...

I have a suggestion, The Church... I really don't have anything else to say other than they're excellent pro/psychedelic rock.

Check out tracks like Tear It All Away, Too Fast for You, When You Were Mine, Almost With You as well as the obvious hits, Under the Milky Way and The Unguarded Moment. Oh and of their new stuff I quite like Metropolis and Unified Field.

As was suggested earlier, try radio for a change. One of my favourites is the aquarium drunkard's podcasts- excellent variation of tracks from all genres (not so much doof doof music though)

last fm

i found my new fav band that way, looking back at the music ive liked in the past/pesent it all has common factors, busy and high end orientated,

ii put a band in last fm i know i like and just listen as it plays other similar stuff,

so many artists i would never have come across otherwise

trance (90s), electronic, death metal, metalcore, power metal,

atm female fronted symphonic power metal, which i think is favourite, but its been a long time

try some reggae or ska and take a break from the tense industrial stuff.

and grab a copy of Miles David "Kind of Blue"!
