IHIFI 760 + 770 (pg 13) + 800 (pg 25) : From makers of the 812V2 / 960

I left a more detailed answer about the 800 and 770 in the thread for the iHiFi800.  I can't speak for others, but I have had occasional difficulties playing a few more highly compressed FLAC files on the 770.  With less compressed FLAC files, I have had no problems at all.  The iHiFi 800 does well with FLAC files. I think this must be a firmware issue, because I had more problems with these FLAC files on my 960 until I replaced the Xuelin firmware with the Rockbox firmware...Now the 960 (with Rock box) plays any file type I put thru it, including high resolution FLAC files (24 bit/192 khz)....  The iHiFi 800 has very nice sound quality, I'm just waiting for Xuelin to step up their efforts with significant firmware upgrades...

btw, does the 770 have a line-out since the 800 has it. :)

so no proper stacking for external portable amp for it? kinda bummer if i want to use a hard to drive HP. btw, what is your rated battery life when playing flac? do you get more than 7? :3

Not sure about the battery life, so someone else will have to chime in.

Regarding the amp, I'm not sure why you couldn't attach an amp to the 770's HO. Maybe that's not ideal though (although I did that with my C3/BH combo, and it works well enough for me).

Anyway, I got the 770 specifically so that I wouldn't have to have to stack an amp, and it is working out very well for me. It sounds fantastic, and it has enough power to drive everything I have except for the AKG 240 Sextetts (it even manages to drive my T50RP's to acceptable levels somehow).

But alas, no LO.

I have used an amp with my 770 and 770C.  The HOs are very clean with black background ans they have worked well with my amp.  I found that the sound quality (in terms of sound stage) was improved with my Neco Soundlabs amp.  But I agree, the power is in the 770s for all the iem's I have.  I think the 770 has a little better power rating that the 800, but the 800 still has all the power I need for all my iem's.  With both my 770s, I have gotten over 10 hrs of battery life, playing a mix of MP3 and FLAC files.  With the 800, my battery life is about 10.5 hrs.  I do tend to listen to music a bit on the loud side though (being a Child of the 60's and 70's).  As for the 800 and 960, I did not find any real improvements in sound quality with my amp.  So as a rule, I do not use an amp with any of my players, but if I want a little better soundstage with the 770s. I'll pull out my amp.

I just want to do another shoutout to the 770. I can`t believe how happy I continue to be with the sound out of this thing. Although I`m constantly intrigued by other DAPs, I never feel a compelling need to get them because I`m enjoying the 770 so much. I like that!

Ok, I have a few headphones with 4 pole plugs (for iphones etc), and none of them work properly in the 770.

Anyone else have this problem? Any work arounds? Any adapters?

Sorry, it's a hardware jack issue. You can't use anything with a mic and controls on the 770. You'll need an adapter in between that isn't TRRS.

Kwangsun is correct.  I think there are adapters that can be bought to get around this.  Unfortunately, the 770 and original 770C use headphone jacks that don't support the 4 pole plugs.  The 960s, 800 and new 770C can all be used with both 3 and 4 pole plugs.  I have not tried this personally and I have no idea if it actually works or not, but someone in the Chinese forums wrapped a thin band of paper around the top of the plug pole (where it enters the plastic/rubber) and claimed this worked.  I guess this just limits the depth the plug can be inserted...

How to install Rockbox detailed? (Xuelin ihifi 770c) ^_^

OK, this gets a bit complicated, because you have to define exactly which 770C you have.  Firstly do you have the original 770C (Wolfso DAC 8718) or the new 770C (Wolfson DAC 8740)?  If you have the new 770C (8740), does your player have a date on the back panel at the bottom (6/16) or not?  If you have the original 770C (8718), there is not a Rockbox port for this player.  If you have the new 770C (8740) and the 6/16 date is on the back panel, then there is not a Rockbox port for this player yet, either.  If you have the new 770C (8740) that does not have the 6/16, then there is Rockbox for you.  If you have a pre-6/16 player (no date on back panel), then here is the link for the files you will need:  http://xvtx.ru/rockbox/download.htm.  The basic process for the rockbox upload can be found here:  http://www.head-fi.org/t/747018/ihifi-770-770c-thread/1035#post_12527443.  Good luck.  Xvortex is working on the Rockbox port for the new 770C with 6/16 date, but this is not ready yet...
