I ran the ZS with a 12v power supply today, and it seemed to be working very well. I left it streaming while I did a few chores and found it powered off when I came back about 90 minutes later. There was over 5 hours of music queued up in the playlist, so it appears this unit has problems other than the power adapter. So, I started a return request with the retailer and decide next steps after that.
I wonder if the SLEEP menu has been activated somehow?I ran the ZS with a 12v power supply today, and it seemed to be working very well. Yes, I was thinking the same thing. I checked it multiple times, it is always in the default configuration - de-activated and Action:Stop Music showing. It is that way before I start the stream and also while the stream is playing. It's possible the UI is not accurately showing the status, I suppose. I've performed multiple factory resets and it always looks just like your first screen shot. I've also run the unit with the firmware that came with it, and then upgraded to the current firmware, and there is no change to the way it shuts down while playing after 20-30 minutes. When that happened after upgrading the firmware I concluded this must be a hardware issue with my device.I wonder if the SLEEP menu has been activated somehow?

After you posted your issue, I decided to leave my ZS on as a test, and have not had mine "turn off" at any point even when no music was playing thru it, in fact, it is still on as I type this.Yes, I was thinking the same thing. Your unit shouldn't turn off all by itself, bo the odds are that it developed a hardware fault somewhere indeed. Please keep us updated if anyhing changes (...and whether your replacement device works as intended), thanks!

@iFi audio Quick question for you. i have a ifi zen stream and i was wondering whether there was any software upgrades planned this year? Specifically - was wondering whether IFI would update the Kernal on the zen stream so it can accept DSD 512? I am a NAA HQP user and this is the only limiting factor for me with the device, and has me considering the Holo Red. Would love if IFI could just update the device.
thank in advance.
thank in advance.
Good question.
I am still waiting for Chromecast and have ordered Wiim Pro which has Chromecast built in. If it turns out to be better than ZS, I will be selling......

I'd really like the next Zen Stream to have a 3.5 passthrough for PC audio.

Thanks for asking! I'm not aware about any firm updates for the ZEN Stream platform, but we'll inform everyone here as soon as something concrete is about to show up, thanks!

This happened with mine as well. I changed power supplies, checked software settings, but it persisted, and started to happen more and more frequently. Although I have no specifics whether these issues may be related to software or hardware, the product shouldn't turn off all by itself, so in any such a case we ask to contact our support, thanks!

I had or have the same problem and it turned out that the ZS was turning off when turning on or off the light in the hallway that is on the same phase as the ZS. I also have Sbooster and Elite power supplies but they didn't help, obviously the device is very sensitive. Even after five inquiries, I still haven't received a solution why ZS does not load a complete external hard disk with music. It is not clear to me that after so many complaints Ifi has no plans to finally make a fair volume upgrade, that's not how they should do business.
