iFi Zen Stream: Setup, Tips, Tricks...

Sure will try.

1. Added 3 Albums to Samsung SSD using Apple Ripper to Mac Book pro.

2. Performed this procedure 3 times before adding 3 or 4 CDs. No problem.

3. Used Mac Book Pro to move media file or individual files/folders to SSDs (2) and one thumb drive. No problem

4. SSDs and thumb drive work.

5. Replaced SSD in correct ZS USB drive.

6. Rescanned and updated. No problem.

7. Moved 3 songs from Library to major playlist. (Total of 4)

8. Attempted to start Major playlist. Skips to one song (not added) 2/3 way through.

9. Re-started again and skips to same song.

10. Repeated times 4.

11. Deleted all three new songs. Goes to same song not added.

12. Deleted song it goes to.

13. Now try at beginning but goes to different song-each time when started. Song not chosen and not pressed.

14. Other three playlist will not play at all.

15. However, can go to any album and plays fine.
Entire album plays and then stops.

16. Decided to not file ticket and try soft restart. Could not get app to open.

17. Tried to do hard restart-went fine until tried ifi.local which would not open.
Hardwire…still cannot open on ifi.local or 192.

18. ZS on A1 and no firewall or proxy. Attempted Terminal app to locate ZS IP address but computer blocked it

19. Filed ticket-waiting.

Thanks for your interest!

Best,

Sean
Glad you got a ticket going, something is apparently not quite right.

I've read that DNS Setting of 8.8.8.8 could help address issues with Tidal Connect. I've checked but could not find how to update the DNS Setting of the ZS. I could not find it under Settings > Network. Where could it be? Appreciate any help. TIA.

This setting is located under Setting/Network, down near the bottom...

You have to turn it on and then enter the info...

Thanks for the quick revert.

I have tried both app and Ifi.local, and both wireless and wired connection. But I really could not see any DNS Setting even when I scroll down. I just did a factory reset, and then updated to the latest firmware.

I could not see the option that you shared through the screen shot.

What am I missing here?

Many thanks again.

Make sure you are in full settings mode

Under settings/system General settings at the very top it's a drop down menu

Show advanced settings

Something is way off. I cannot get any Apple device in my house to open that address. One MAC Book Pro/Mac Mini an Apple phones. Restarted all and Modem/Router. No go. Waiting on Support.

Let us know how you make out, I just used Safari and it opened right up to the stream iFi browser page.

Do you have any lights on the front?

Cheers!!

You might try just http://ifi.local (leave off the settings part). That's how I do it on my Macs.

Yes, either should work or honestly any of the settings pages in general. I use that one sometimes when folks are having browser-related issues where it's blocking them out for some "non-secure" type of things.

Thanks for the suggestion, appreciated!

May also help to use a "New Private Window" in Safari instead of the standard one.
Extensions are disabled by default in private windows, and some extensions can get finicky about http vs https when browsing.
Not knowing what extensions the user may or may not have installed, it may be easiest to go in clean, no cache, no cookies, and private if possible.

Yes, sir.

Lights remain correct for hard reset.

Just cannot open page.

Multiple attempts with peripherals to ZS.

All reset.

Privacy settings are allowing IFI in.

Unfortunately I have updated Mac Mini M 1 twice or three times since establishing hardwire-Ethernet connection with no issues over time

Boy do I regret trying to Fix-playlist.

Currently trying to reload ZS software-does someone have the url vs the QR code?

This comes under the heading of working very well for a year and then-what??

Thanks Bubba and members!

Do you have access to any Windows PC or laptop? If you do I recommend telling support you need the refresh tool, this will clear out the Zen and set it to close to the current firmware, unfortunately, this does not run on Mac OS.

Even if you could borrow one the refresh process only takes about 5 minutes.

So when the unit is powered on and unreachable the light on the far right-hand side is not on correct? As a last resort you could try setting it up using the hot-spot method.

Cheers!!

Still no word from Support.

Before I took the next step-the light on the right for hot spot was not illuminated.

As you can see from above I am cleaning and clearing.

I don’t have a windows computer.

Next step was to delete all the IFi Zen App from the Mac mini and let it sit.

Will next redownload App if I can locate URL download as reading the QR code with this computer is a challenge.

Restart all over.

Thanks Bubba et al.,

Support offered refresher tool for PC or send to Service Center.

They cited more than one issue.

I am going to elect the later option-will keep you apprised of status on return.

Thanks again one and all!

Best,

Sean
