iFi launch - DC iPurifier. Kills DC noise 316x > 100,000x
Apr 8, 2016 at 9:46 PM Post #16 of 41
Finally received mine today (iPurifier) and plugged it into a device which came with a 24v, 420mA PSU. The "power" LED on the iPurifier was amber and the "+/-" LED was unlit.

Is that the correct lighting?

I am disappointed that the device doesn't come with any instructions that explain the LEDs and there is nothing on the iFi Audio web-site for this device (i.e. nothing that explains the LEDs).

I think that is correct - IIRC iFi posted somewhere that the "+/-" LED is in the case you try using a device with a center negative plug...

OK, thanks for info.

Hi.

The DC iPurifier LED's are correct. When a power supply is connected the power LED lights up amber. However the +/- symbol refers to the polarity. If you insert a centre negative power supply it will light up red, indicating that the wrong polarity is connected therefore you'll need to use a centre positive power supply thus no LED on the +/- symbol will be lit.

Thanks.

OK, thanks for the clarification. One last comment, from your web site:

"Professional audio applications typically require a ‘centre negative’ power supply. To lower noise with the DC iPurifier, use a ‘centre positive’ power supply at the input and use a special white ‘inverter’ at the output."

I have one of these from an iPower, I believe, but wanted to make sure this wasn't included in the iPurifier package.

On that topic, are you thinking of making a 24v iPower?

Hi,

Not in the iPurifier package. In the iPower package.

The DC iPurifier works for 5-24v.

So no plans for 24v as we have that covered by the DC iPurifier.

Cheers

@ifi Audio

I'm thinking about putting a DC ipurifier after a ipower or would that be kinda redundant?

One other thing im wondering about is the ifi ipower is it okay to use 2 of them in the same socket or will the smps noise they put out on the mains affect them.

Hi got a question for you, how low does the DC purifier actually filter too? Will it help a lps that is already around 1-5uv?

Dec 10, 2016 at 6:16 PM Post #28 of 41
Is this a stand alone device?...does it give the same/better results than some of the higher end LPS?

You don't need anything else with the DC iP.

Most LPSs only work at specific voltages but the DC iPurifier works from 5V-24V and up to 3.5A. Imo, the DC iP also performed better than the iPower I tried. Can't speak for the larger, more expensive LPS units but the DC iP takes up almost no space.

There was a noticeable improvement in SQ?
