At the cutting-edge of computer audio technology, the iPurifier is another ‘USB audio-quality improvement’ product and a ‘world’s first.’ It is a USB audio + data active purification device:
 

1. At the end of the ‘digital chain’ at the DAC USB port, the iPurifier enhances EVERY DAC.

The USB standard was not designed for high-quality audio: audio/power/ground are all ‘lumped into’ one cable.
 
This is akin to placing audio interconnects and power cables together – which is far from ideal. Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) issues inevitably arise, characterised by a harsh, edgy sound.
 

 

The iPurifier cleans and filters at the end of the digital chain; just prior to the digital signal entering the DAC[1].
The specially-designed circuit restores the ‘signal waveform’ and puts the ‘analogue’ back into USB audio for a true, life-like presentation.

The iUSB Power injects a new, clean power supply. (akin to PS Audio)
 
The Gemini USB cable separates audio + Power. (akin to having separate Interconnects and power cables)
 
The iPuriifer cleans up audio + power (akin to a filter for audio and power signals.

Thanks for the quick reply ... ok so if I were to use these items can you walk me through the setup please?

I have a Rega DAC though and I know that the USB is limited bandwidth compared to the SPDIF which is why I want the converter into the mix because almost all of my files are hi-rez ... if this is the case am I right in assuming that I would not have a use for the iPurifier?

USB is not bandwidth limited compared to SPDIF - the iDSD plays DXD at 384kHz and DSD at 6.2Mhz.
 
So you dont need to buy the iLINK if you only want it for SPDIF conversion. Anytime any conversion goes on, it usually degrades the signal so best avoid if at all possible.
 
So PC > iUSB > Gemini > iPurifier > Rega DAC.
 
(if your PC has no earth pin, you can connect the audio connector of the Gemini directly into the Computer's USB port).

Unfortunately USB is limited to 48khz on the Rega DAC ~ so SPDIF Coax is a much better choice at 192khz, but unfortunately my only options on my PC is Optical TOSLINK (limited to 96khz) or USB.  That's why I was considering an ilink USB to SPDIF converter to get the full 192khz because most of my files are 192khz.  I would have bought another DAC had I been more knowledable at the time, however overall I like the DAC quite a bit despite it's limitations.  I am currently using a Musical Fidelity V-Link 192 converter, but the specs on your iLink look very impressive in comparison.

A nice update, Jcue deejay, a well-known hip hop deejay who tried the iPurifier....
 
'I got this little gadget from Ifi, a new audio company looking to make waves in the DJ industry. It's called the " iPurifier " It basically goes between your computer and your soundcard/DJ controller device and fliters/cleans up the sound.
 
I used it last night for the first time in a live situation, plugged into the back of a Rane 62. then just plug the usb cable into it. simple! i must say. it sounded very nice! I'm no audio expert, but i definately noticed an immediate difference in sound clarity.
 
As a Hiphop style DJ, and somone who can't help but have a cut during his set, or double up a beat here n there, you want a certain clarity in your sound so that what you are trying to do will be heard and understood by the listener. I honestly think this little gadget takes me a step closer to that when djing off a computer using mp3's as many of us do nowadays.
 
Of course i have only put it to use live for two hours so far. but my first impression is a good one! i will definately post more info on this device when i get it, and after some more rigorous testing. stay tuned ...'

why dont You expand your line in IFI Usb Power with Usb Micro output, Gemni Cable That have Micro Usb Version, also the I-Purifier.
iam sure many people want to see some micro usb in your Usb cleaning Product line.

The iPurifer and Gemini ship with USB type 'B' > Micro USB adapter.

 
iFi likes to give its customers performance and value-for-money. So you can have it both ways.

 
Given we spent a tidy sum for a mould for these USB 'B' connectors, to help ensure adherence to 90 ohms - you can read up why we did this, we are unlikely to go down the 'micro USB' connector.
