ifI iCan Pro - Impressions & Discussion

My ifi stopped working in both tube modes but thankfully within the warranty period. Still away for repair I traded my Utopias for a Burson Soloist 3X GT with a friend. Long story short, once back the Ifi will be sold.

Tired of the Utopia's?
It was my fourth pair(original version) and I am healed now. All smitten by the Raal at the moment…hope it will last.

Do you mean the fourth pair of Utopia's you bought or it was number four in your preferences?

The fourth pair I have owned…always thought I have to give them another chance. Know better now!

Well that is dedication. I guess Focal and IFi products just aren't for you.

Hi, I'm hoping someone can answer a question for me. If I want to use a balanced a Final Audio D8000 Pro 6.3mm cable that has a TRS, can I plug the cable into either R or L connector of the ifi ican pro signature amp? Thanks
Not sure what you mean here as a 6.3mm TRS has only 3 contacts and you need 4 for balanced operation.

When running single-ended, you should use the 'R' socket as stated in the manual.

I have an (older) iFi iCAN Pro fed by iFi Zen Stream and Hugo2 driving Focal Stellia.
The amp is driven by the iFi iCAN original power brick 15v.
Will an upgrade to the iPower Elite (15v), introduce a noticable sonic improvment, considering that we are talking about a fully analog dvice?

Note: after upgrading to the iFi PowerX, for my iFi Zen Stream, the sonic improvment was truely noticable (but this is a digital device).

Thanks

Not sure if anyone else has asked this question earlier in this thread but how does the iFi Pro iCan compare to the Ferrum Oor? Seems like they have different approaches so may be an unfair comparison, but has anyone listened to both and had a clear take on how they stack up?

I’ve had both. The power on the tap is not even close. Also the level of detail and stage are much better on the oor. (Only had tried it with Hypsos)

Hi there, new owner of the idsd + ican signature combo. Enjoying so far.
I have a question on the 4.4mm output of the ican that I couldn't find a definitive answer: I see the manual mentioning it is "Built-in IEMatch -18dB". Do I have any downside by using it for full size headphones? It seems to be driving my Hifiman Arya well (can't get beyond 12 o'clock on the volume as it gets unbearable loud).
