iFi audio ZEN Stream - Streaming elevated to a higher plane

You don't have to explain, looks like I'm judging you but it was not my original intention. I apologize for that. Your money your honey :) It's just the idea of spending more for a cable vs the hardware that sounds a little bit weird from my point of you.
But I have the same problem when I have to spend my money on records even if I have the same album on CD or digital format. It's called the monkey and everyone has his own one.😆

If that cable looks expensive, please take a look at @N Quarter's Kharma speakers

I‘m using ZEN stream with a Pro-ject Power Box Maia on the 15V output (measured real 15.16V) and it also works great so far…

That's great to know, thanks and enjoy!

The S booster I have, has the option (switch) of 12,13 or 13.5 volts, so i chose the highest level.

Have you tried changing these voltages and comparing whether they impact ZEN Stream's performance by any chance?

Im using a 9v ipower x with great results too!

Definately performs better than the stock 12v adapter.

Agreed, iPower X makes a rather noticeable difference to ZEN Stream, so thanks for confirming that :)

I would consider a lumin streamer with those dacs personally, the U1 comes with a LPS.
My local dealer has mentioned a new Lumin all in one Dac/streamer that was coming out this year.Hopefully I will get to hear one before I make any decisions on my next upgrade.
He is a rep for Lumin apparently, has a new store opening in a couple of months.

I have great results with 9v, but others claim better results at higher voltages.

I'm not sure here, but maybe he referred to Lumin P1?
Thanks for that info, I will talk to him about it, but that sounds like the one he described to me. That has to be the weirdest review I have ever read, i wish he would just get to the point instead of all the jibberish.🤷‍♂️ That unit definitely looks like something that ticks all the boxes for me, hope I can hear one at my dealer when he is up and running.

Srajan has his own rather unique reporting style :)

Which power supply were you using before?
A little update,added an
S booster power supply
(12-13.5 volt) two days ago,set to 13.5 v. There is no going back now, feels like I am on stage with the musicians. I also have an
S booster on my Dac. The value of this little streamer with quality power attached is off the charts.
I once ran a Naim Nd5xs2 into a Chord Mscaler/TT2, and I do not feel like I am missing anything, with 1/6 th the money invested. That includes my Dac and $500 dollar USB cable,Zen
Stream,and 2 S boosters.
Happy in Canada :)
What is amp rating from your S booster at both 12v and 13v setting.
Thanks

The Zen stream is rated for 10w max power draw on their site, so at 12v that would be 0.833333333 amps or 0.666666667 amps at 15v.

https://www.rapidtables.com/calc/electric/watt-volt-amp-calculator.html
Looks like the S booster is over twice the amperage then. I got the S booster from the same dealer that sold me the Zen stream, and he called his IFI rep to ask which power supply they recommend. All I know is it works great, and I have not had any problems since hooking it up.

amperage is drawn, not pushed, so there won't be any issues.

Has anyone experienced functionality improvements when upgrading from the stock psu? I only use Tidal Connect in Mode 3 these days, and the playback always fails at some point within about an hour of listening. To get things going again, I have to clear the play queue and reconnect to Tidal Connect on my iPhone in the Tidal app. Every once in a while, I have to unplug the USB cable and plug it back in to get the ZS to sync with the DAC (Bifrost 2). A few times I've had to pull the power cord from the ZS to get the connection to the DAC re-established. My question is whether this could all be power supply related, or is it more likely software issues.
