Hey.

So last week i ordered the Zen Can.Yesterday i got it,really like the build and finish.
Have not tested it yet as im waiting on the Zen Dac which should be here next week.I also managed to order a 4.4mm to 4.4mm balanced cable (DeLock 4.4mm cable) from AmazonUK,to connect the two units.Probably going to use the RCA outs on the Zen Dac with my Edifier speakers,so thats nice.

But i was wondering,do i get any of the benefits of the balanced out of the Zen Can,with my headphones (TH-X00 Purplehearts) considering they are not balanced?
My guess is no,but i have read somewhere that you do get some of the benefits. The Purplehearts don't really need the balanced output, but i am planning to get a DT1990 Pro soon, which i think can be used with a balanced cable. The other question i have is,should i use the 4.4mm headphone out of the Zen Can with an adapter,or should i use the SE headphone out with my Purplehearts?

If the headphones are not wired for balanced use, there is no point in getting cables with adapters. TH-X00 is wired for single ended use, so that is how they should be used.

The DT 1990 Pro comes with 2 cables both single ended - 3 pin XLR on one to 3.5 jack. Since the plug is 3 pin XLR, it is not balanced, so, you cannot use it to connect balanced cables to it.
In short, the cable you ordered is useless, hope you can cancel the order.
You will need other headphones to take advantage of the balanced output.

Exactly. Headphones need to be wired for balanced circuit to do its thing.

Hi does anyone know where one can buy a male 4.4mm to female 4.4mm extension lead ?

The ones on ebay and amazon all either say its a 4.4mm to 3.5mm or 2.5mm jack, my msr7b balanced 4.4mm supplied cable is very short.

I see this one here from amazon:

Delock Extension Cable Jack 4.4 mm 5 Pin Male to Female 2 m Black

But It looks like a 3.5mm headphone jack on the end, not a 4.4mm balanced jack so not sure about that one

I think there might be one on Aliexpress or you can order a custom one from a number of manufacturer's, but you'll need to wait a few weeks. I actually have one for sale if it interests you:

EDIT: Nevermind... I see you are looking for a 4.4mm male to 4.4mm female extension cable, not a 4.4mm male to 4.4mm male cable. Sorry about that!

Hi guys. Just bought the Zen DAC and Zen Can and connected to my iMac via the enclosed USB cable. However, there's no sound coming from my headphones. I connected the pair to my Windows notebook and there was sound. Can anyone tell me what's wrong? Thanks in advance and sorry for the noob question.

hi there, i just tried using the 4.4mm balanced output on the zen dac and zen can (yes i have both) and have noticed some weirdness,
if i plug the 4.4mm fully, the sound only come from the left side, if i pull the jack slightly, the sound will come from both sides / normal left n right,
both my zen dac and zen can exhibit this "weirdness"
i also have tried the 4.4mm to my FiiO M11 and it sounds normal with the jack fully plugged.
here is the picture to give u guys what i mean by "slightly pull the jack"

do u guys have any idea?
