Hi everybody, need help / suggestions in deciding between xdsd , idsd micro bl and fiio q5
I don't not have hard to drive headphone mostly i will be using beyerdynamic t5p second gen and also have ifi ican se

Please help me with below:

1 - Considering only section which which is better xdsd , idsd micro bl and fiio q5

2 - Does xdsd have 2 level value selection (as available in ican se) for xbass and 3d

3 - If i connect samsung s8 plus to xdsd using Bluetooth, will xdsd work as dac/amp both (do not have much experience for Bluetooth)

can somebody reply to above

That makes no sense. What section?

2 - Does xdsd have 2 level value selection (as available in ican se) for xbass and 3d
No, just one of each.

3 - If i connect samsung s8 plus to xdsd using Bluetooth, will xdsd work as dac/amp both (do not have much experience for Bluetooth)
Bluetooth is a digital wireless link so the receiver must contain a DAC if you want to hear analogue sound.

Thanks @ technobear for reply

sorry i missed 'dac' in 1st

1 - If only dac section is compered which one is better , idsd bl, xdsd or fiio q5
2 - this point is cleared
3 - I don't have much knowledge in Bluetooth, if i use xdsd with my phone using Bluetooth , will xdsd work as dac/amp both

Well that was a waste of time, my interest in ifi has come to an abrupt & premature end. Was suckered in to pay for an iDSD BL from an ifi authorised UK dealer (one who pops up at the top of any Google search) who presents their products as 'Available' on their webshop (implying they are amply stocked), take payment and accept additional 'next day' carriage payment, but then after accepting your payment define 'available' to the n'th degree of it's lawful definition, as they don't hold stock. Been let down on delivery dates twice now (once automated response, second verbal promise), their customer service has been appalling and certainly a proactive failure. I'm asking for a full refund tomorrow and find myself even considering purchasing a Hugo, please God I don't want to buy a Hugo!

An update:
I also sent iFi an email the same evening as I posted the above and first thing the next morning received a reply promising action. Low & behold a few hours later an iDSD was winging its way to me via Royal Mail next day before 1pm delivery.

Typical of my current run of luck, the morning of delivery there was a huge fire at a large recycling plant on the next street to me (access to mine blocked by the Police for several hours) and multiple collisions on and around the A13/A406 (two of London's main roads) where I live, so nearly all roads were gridlocked for hours (if you are familiar with Google traffic, every road on the screen was painted red for most of the day) , by late afternoon traffic situation hadn't improved.

So, I still have no iDSD, but I'm stunned by just how quick and effective the iFi customer service team were on this occasion and my faith in a certain UK retailer has improved.

So, a huge thumbs up and thanks to iFi and a boo hiss to recycling :)

My money's on the cable - specifically the connection at the xDSD end. Some people have had issues with that connection before now (on the iDSD), me included. You could try contact cleaner. I ended up wrapping tape around the plug to get a tighter fit.

So I found a USB-C OTG cable that's got a pretty big head and it fits really snug on the xdsd.

No more disconnections nor music loss of playback sound.

Can't believe the solution is so simple. (Now looking for the USB-A/B one with a big head for the same snug fit)

Thanks to you! :beerchug:

Do you have a link to the cable?

Do you have a link to the cable?
I got it off China's Taobao E-Commerce site.

I found a similar one (at least the picture looks like it), from AliExpress. Here's the link: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/201...TG-Cable-USB3-1-Male-to-USB2/32811782115.html

Disclaimer: The aliexpress one sure looks like the one I have. I'm not saying its the exact one.

Here's how it looks like:

Compared to the blue cable included in the xDSD box:

And see how snug it is:

Hope this helps!

Edit: Made the pictures bigger for clearer view.

I finally got my xDSD two weeks later I placed an order from iFi audio directly via Amazon USA. What happens was that the first unit was lost by the carrier, UPS... The customer centre of iFi immediately took corrective action right after I made a claim. She did excellent job indeed.

xDSD is the replacement of nano iDSD (silver version), which still works fine but I wanted to upgrade. I originally thought to upgrade silver to "BL" version of nano. I know micro iDSD BL is great but it's too big for me and the size of nano fits for travelling. Eventually, xDSD appeared on the market and I started thinking whether I should go to nano BL or xDSD. Bluetooth capability is not mandatory necessary, it's nice to have for me. Finally, I concluded to go to xDSD because I expect it has the better sound signature.

I am listening with the wired connection of PC or iPhone and output to RHA T20 or AKG K550mk3. Still burn-in period but the sound is already great! I think not much time is really necessary for this product.

Meanwhile, I also own micro iDAC2 for my home audio system combined with pro iCAN and xDSD sound is relatively closer to solo use of micro iDAC2 in terms of details. Silver nano is a good product, but cannot compete with xDSD as well as micro series of DAC as everybody aware.

The difference from the past generation of products including micro iDAC2 is that xDSD has more body and energetic, in addition, more "tube" feel especially old recordings, though it is solid state amp. It is probably an advantage from past products. Soundstage is not so wide though but good enough for portable setup and acceptable for me.

Well paint me happy, picked the iDSD BL up today and started playing when I got home from work. Not played all my test tracks yet, but so far it really makes the HD660's sing. There may be better (more expensive!) portables, but if there are I just don't care :)
