iFi audio xDSD- The Official Thread

Hey guys, has anyone experienced the xDSD go into Bluetooth mode and show a solid blue light as if it's paired, but it's unable to pair with any devices? Even if I hold down the 'settings' button continuously I can't force it to go into pairing mode.

Any workarounds or solutions for this?

Hey Guys what do you think of the 3d+ and Xbass+ feature? With my HEX V2 i'm loving the sound these options provide.

I for one love them! Some of the most organic sounding enhancements I have heard! :metal::yum:

I don't need them at all. ) I like more neutral sound.

Does anyone have app suggestions for delivering high res files to the xdsd?

I am using Vox on ipad pro with CCK to deliver Stan Getz "Getz at the Gate" using the xdsd usb port. The music files are 192khz/24 bit but the xdsd is showing a green led, which means 96khz or less.

Everytime I saw that issue the xDSD was actually paired to something... Perhaps a tablet, or a family phone, or your laptop. The xDSD pairs to anything that had been paired before. So make sure to turn off the rest of Bluetooth signals before you want to pair a new device...

If you were using Android, I'd suggest Poweramp. But unfortunately, they don't have an iOS version (yet).

If you ever did switch though, make sure to enabled "Hi-Res Output" in the audio settings. You can also adjust the resolution for each device too (wired/headset/aux, BT, etc.).

Yup, a very reasonable hint.

I would suggest this app... it’s not very popular and not often updated but it’s quite good!
SigmaTunes ST-1 PRO DSD & FLAC by PETER WAYNE

There is a non pro version too...
Also it’s not optimized for iPad. It works well but it shows a little odd!

Another option is the onkyo hirez player

iFi audio,

Could you kindly pass along a feature request to the software team at iFi? After purchasing the xdsd, it appears that in fact the led indicator does not operate as shown in the product manual. As of software version 5.30, all PCM data will show up as green on the audio format LED. In my case that makes the unit rather less useful because I have a collection in mp3 format (which I am slowly working to eliminate) and another collection of CDs converted to FLAC 16/44.1. Since I don't use DSD and probably won't use MQA (MQA is lossy), the only other common hires format is the higher bit, higher frequency material (e.g.), 24/192.

Since the audio format LED will show green no matter what I play, it is basically a placebo, and in any case will be unhelpful in removing mp3s (which I hate) from my collection since mp3s will be rated as the same as 24/192 files: green.

And can you also ask when this feature request will be implemented and available for download?

Sigh.

Let us get this straight: you simply want bitperfect, yes?

Hey Guys for Spotify is there any difference between using Bluetooth and wired connection in terms of sound quality with my phone? I want to know what the best quality is but don't want to spend $30 on a cable if it isn't worth it when I can just use bluetooth

Wired mode is a bit better, but ytou don't miss too much. We took measures to have xDSD's BT module as good as it possibly can and all feedback gathered thus far indicates that folks in here and our customers like it.

Thanks for that, I just ordered a type C USB otg cable to go with it as I want the best quality with my device. I've used it wired on my desktop PC and bluetooth with mobile and I feel there may be a slight difference. I have a HEX V2 and sometimes it can get a bit harsh using bluetooth with my phone. Just that 8khz peak which rarely happens, it is just enough to annoy me every so often when it does happen

With it being plugged into the PC I never noticed it ever being harsh even at loud volumes so it could be either using a PC or wired connection or both so I'll try wired connection with my phone and compare. Still the best bluetooth Amp/Dac I ever heard
