Anyone here tried an aftermarket “audio grade” USB cable apart from the long blue one supplied by iFI? I mean something with a Female USB at the other end so we don’t need to use the black USB B Female Adapter supplied by IFi too.. Any custom cable builders you can reccomend? It would be nice to have some high quality CCK cable with a Lightning connector at the other end for iDevices too.. Preferably something longer. Thanks!

If it is just about the length being different, you can probably try to search a bit, but for exactly the same length, the cable provided by iFi is quite good.
iFi makes some nifty USB cables though, you can try to get in contact with them about this

New Head-Fier
Just got the review unit couple days ago. I would say that I'm liking what I hear so far, but need to really dig the sound this weekend. Will compare the unit with micro BL.
I have the micro BL as it was recommended by a fellow audio fan. Looking forward to hearing what you have to say about the new nano. New on here and enjoying reading everyone's impressions. My micro BL rocks especially with my Mezes.

Early impression:
Micro BL (I didn't switch the 3D and Xbass features on)
- has better separation and imaging
- larger soundstage
- a tad more detail but with non MQA song
- I felt like it's a little warmer
- bass is tighter and punchier
Nano BL
- pretty much as described above and both do provide great tonal density
- more forward sounding
- MQA rendering is an amazing feature.
The MQA rendering capability provides great detail like micro BL. It almost felt like a layer is uncovered from the same song and with some songs, I enjoy the nano more than micro.
At $199, a bargain I would say, especially if you love how the micro BL sounds.
P/S: I will keep the updates coming in the review.

My review of the Nano iDSD BL is up, it will be copied over to Head-Fi soon: http://www.soundperfectionreviews.com/2018/01/review-ifi-audio-nano-idsd-black-label.html

Yeah, it’s good quality and sounds good, but could still be bettered. It’s more of the length too. A bit too long, maybe a foot is a good length.. I’ve checked most custom cable builders, and no one seems to make USB cables with Female A at one end. I mean, at least no one advertises one.. But yeah, maybe iFI has something in the works. Thanks..
I've had this little guy for a few days now and absolutely love the sound it brings to my isine20! This was the sole reason for trying it. It really opens up and brings out everything Audeze strived for. I will be doing a review on this soon when time allows. My review of the Nano iDSD BL is up, it will be copied over to Head-Fi soon: http://www.soundperfectionreviews.com/2018/01/review-ifi-audio-nano-idsd-black-label.html

Here is something I tried over the weekend and it worked great. USB from my computer to the Nano, then line out to my Project Ember, to headphone, but at the same time connecting a headphone to the headphone out from the Nano. This worked great for a/b testing, and also would work for sharing.
Great to know. I'm in the middle of writing my review and this will come in handy. Here is something I tried over the weekend and it worked great. I had to purchase a nano BL because I didn't get near enough time with it on the tour to form a educated opinion.

100+ Head-Fier
The ifi micro iDSD Black is on the sweet spot of the DAC prices where the quality is present at a level that you can live happy with one for life, I had the curiosity to listem to the black label edition of my current DAC the original ifi micro iDSD, the original micro iDSD is an impressive DAC, but the Black is something more.
The ifi iDSD Black was connected my resident ifi iUSB 3.0 and this one to my Mac Pro that serves the music as a transport trough Audirvana, I am using two gemini cables, one from Mac Pro to the iUSB and one from the iUSB to the iDSD Black, also an ipurifier between the gemini and the iDSD, the iDSD in pre mode passes the sound to an ifi iTube with linn silver cables, and from the iTube to the Focal Solo 6 BE also with linn silver cables, fuses on the focal are AMR gold fuses, and power cables are a mix of volvox textura on the speakers, Acoustic Arts Ferrite II and an Audioquest NRG5 on the Mac Pro, the Focal are on iso acoustics aperta stands.
This is not high end equipment but it’s revealing enough to show deferences in the equipment connected, and I can tel you it really sounds good.
The ifi iDSD Black made the sound really better, not night and day sound variation philosophy from the original iDSD, but better that is noticeable right away, better separation of sound, better texture, better in all aspects than the original iDSD, the new implantation of the bass and 3d switches are on another level, if I could differentiate the two versions of the iDSD, the original micro iDSD I could describe it as great picture of a magician performing beautiful magic, the black micro iDSD I could describe the same but not in a picture, you are physically present on the room with the magic itself around you sensing holographic sounds that make you ask for more and never stop.
The sound is more refined, the bass is fuller, and the sounds float in front of you, behind of you, behind the monitor, the original also has this presentation of sound, but the black is simply more human and holographic when you listem to music.
These words are my opinion and experience relating to my system and room, for sure I will keep this one, and will be my computer DAC from now on, next I try to listen to iTube 2, I wish they had the iTube 2 in black
Hope you like this photos, the unit looks amazing.
