step up voltage idea was a bust, could dial it in perfect but not enough amps with 5v outputs. Oddly, it worked on a 5v/3a SMPS, but in the end just gonna settle with the iPower 15v/1.2a. Still wonder what a power supply that's the correct voltage and amps would sound like...?

...Think I've got the sound dialed in best as I can at this point, tweaking the treble turnover and calling it a day unless there's a reason for me to switch to a cheap SMPS with more amps.

Switch failed to show on last day-refund tomorrow but really want the bloody switch.

Tidal Connect intermittently and inconsistently dropping streams (1-3 per hour). (No word from Tidal-high command)

While typing this phone froze. Great!

Will follow but not post unless I have something positive to add.

Best,

S
That's too bad, good luck with your replacement!

Cheers!!

Update: First D-Link lost in shipping? Refunded.
Second arrived in two days. Correct one and burning in.
Rearranged LANs and then removed but Tidal Connect still not working.

Replaced LANs where they should be.

Tidal Connect still dropping streams erratically. Tidal has messaged me twice in one week about updates to their software.
Daily crash logs. Notified last night that “referred to higher IT level.”

Interestingly second streamer through same Fiber/Ethernet/IFI LAN (1) and 70 foot Cat 6 run to D-link switch to Optical Moat to Auralic Mini sounds clear/coherent and has never dropped a stream since all this started.

More later…

Update:

Still sending every other day crash reports to Tidal.

Awaiting response while “burning” in switch with two LAN silencers in place in the system.

Sounds very good tonally-will test more formally next week if my blood pressure holds.

To be continued…

I had half the review done and the rest in point form notes but then last week I tripped on covid and, while mostly better now, my hearing is all f'd up now (probably because sinuses) so whatever I end up writing will have to based on my earlier impressions.

That sucks, hope all is well! Looking forward to your thoughts regardless!

Feel better!

Update:

1. Tidal “cannot replicate error” and suggests I contact IFI. (There is a drop stream issue somewhat related to the Hi-Fi/MQA/MAX switching issue). So we wait.

Lights on Zen stream indicating sampling rate often do not match computer and stream dropped at switching. Cannot A/B if not sure about Res.

2. Switch burning in with IFI-X power. Has been on for a week. Will A/B switch with IFI X shortly through different streamer. Frankly do not expect a difference between D-Link and Trend Net but we will see. Not going to use linear power (slower) or the D-link daisy chain as after switch is SOTM-dcbl Cat 7 to optical moat.

To be continued…
