iFi Audio iGalvanic3.0 - The Holy Grail of Audio

i have micro iusb3.0. if i buy nano igalvanic3.0, what cable is the best to connect them? the stock blue cable?

It depends on how much of an audioholic you are, and what type of components you have. I have a more resolving system(esoteric k-03x) and ended up buying three higher end
USB cables as I was able to hear the differences in cables. It's best if you are able to try some different cables, as you may find the blue cable sounds just fine with your system.

I have the defender and i power out of my IMAC connected to the galvanic. But noticed that over the last couple days I lost my DAC connection a few times after the computer go to sleep. I just switched the ground from center to the bottom. Will see if that works, if not i will try the up position

I've tried the supplied blue cable, it works fine. Then I changed to a short Curious link, and even though it's a USB 2.0 I found it better sounding. Just plain more musical, more resolution, more everything. I was looking for a high-end USB 3.0, but currently only WireWorld makes it at 2.0 meter length, which is too long for my preference.

no luck just switched all three settings and my iMac looses connection after it goest to sleep, no clue whats going on.

Just switched to the supplied usb cable for the initial connection to the galvanic, hopefully that works. I also opened a trouble ticket to figure out why I am loosing connection.

Dear Maelob

Depending on OSX Version and Vintage of computer, this is a known issue with Mac's, not limited to iFi products, see here:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6322295?tstart=0

You may have to adjust the way your iMAC operats it's sleep mode by selecting a less aggressive power save setting:

I hope that this answers your query.

Best wishes

Thanks for the response, I was able to change the energy settings on display to never go to sleep and prevent computer from sleeping automatically. Don't know if there is a difference but instead of selecting sleep on the menu, i hit control shift eject to put the monitor to sleep. Finally, it is stable.

just got my igalvanic 3.0 connecting to micro iusb3.0, i found that the igalvanic runs much hotter than micro iusb3.0. is this normal?

Hi littlexx26

Many thanks for your query.

Yes. It is totally normal.

Thank you for your reply. So the nano igalvanic 3.0 is designed to work at high temp? I afraid the high temp will shorten the lifespan of the parts.
What do you mean by high temp?

If you can hold it in your hand then it is not high and nothing to worry about.

If you can't hold it in your hand then I would send it back.

i read some people got drop outs or changes to static after adding igalvanic and here is my experience. i have micro iusb3.0 and by adding igalvanic before it i got the drop out problem too (switch at middle position). then i try up and down position and the drop out problem is eliminated (both up and down). however i know this is not optimal and my wall socket is earthed so this sould not happen. all my notebook, micro iusb3.0, dac, one sony amp and one denon amp, turntable plug to the same power distributor. i know all the above are designed earthed except the denon amp and i wonder if the drop out is caused by it. i remove the denon from the power distributor and after that no more drop out. so i can conclude that the drop out is caused by the denon amp (no earth designed).
