iFi audio iDSD Signature - The saga continues!

The RCA at the back are a line out to use the iDSD as a DAC only. This is exactly my use of it and the DAC is quite nice indeed.

Doesn’t need to be transportable. This is going to be for my desk.

CA1000 is ok, not that strong for the HE1000 Stealth.
Ah in this case you have the freedom to literally buy any desktop headphone amp you want. :relaxed::thumbsup:

Oh alternatively, iDSD Black Label do have analogue input so you could run that amp only if you want.

Volume knob functionality: disabled when the rca output is connected to an anplifier (Ifi Signature only as a dac) but at the same time enabled to amplify a headphone,
is it correct?
Yes at least on Signature Finale that I own. When used with the RCA out as a DAC the volume knob as well as the xbass and 3D switches don’t do anything.

I believe this is the functionality of "most" of our units of this kind. My OG Diablo and Diablo 2 perform the same way.

Cheers!!

And it is perfect that way, I was really happy those RCA OUT were a real line out when I started playing with the iDSD. This way we really get the DAC flavour and there is very minimal "analog" modification to the signal going to the amp, it's all up to the amp to do it's own magic, good one or bad! hahaha

Thanks for the thoughts on this, I will pass these on to the folks above me!

Cheers!!

I’ve owned both of the Diablo and signature. Mind you just the Diablo v1 which is quite similar to v2.

Diablo is going to slam harder and have more attack than the signature.

Signature is still great and the bass boost does help add to the low end. But the Diablo is more linear and will have a defined bass edge to it.

Signatures 4.4mm is not a true balanced but just allows you to use 4.4mm. The power should be the same out of both connections.

I have both the Diablo and the signature.... as much as I like both it would be cool if they combined the two .... it would be a nice setup and pretty much a signature with the balanced outputs and power of the diablo...

Yeah, I agree. Depending on the headphone the signature can have a more natural organic sound to it.

The Diablo is all power and can sound very linear at times. There’s a hint or warmth, but not like the signature.

So it really comes down to what you’re pairing with them.
