iFi audio iDSD Diablo-X - eXperience innovation!
Jul 8, 2023 at 8:31 AM Post #61 of 81
Actually, Diablo-X features an internal component in form of a motherboard atop the original PCB. This extra circuit is dedicated to correctly bias the product's 4.4mm headphone out, so that it can accommodate xMEMS drivers.

TL;DR: Diablo-X is a fair bit different both inside and out
As someone who owns & enjoys several of your lower priced products (Go Blu/ZenDac 2/Hip Dac 2), I am strongly considering one of the Diablo models as my first high end piece.

I don't currently have any headphones which employ xmems technology (to my knowledge) - can you please explain the differences & where the pros/cons are with each model vs the other?

I'm sorry I thought I answered this.

I asked this question back when we had a sort of "Product Rundown" and was told it does.

Please keep in mind I am not certain of this as I do not have one to test, and with things like this, I feel it best to wait for someone to confirm it that has one in hand.

Thanks for your patience!

Cheers!!
Thanks BH!

So look forward to the confirmation from someone's actual testing.

Thanks for asking! And to clarify, are you asking about differences between the original red Diablo and Dixablo-X?

Correct! Thank you
X mems is a new technology so you don't have any xmems products... yet. So the consideration between the new or old diablo should be based on whether you plan to get an xmems iem at some point. They are incredible sounding. So you may want to. The xmems functionality won't provide any benefit to non xmems drivers.

That is in 100% accurate. There is no difference between red and black Diablo other than the latter's extra circuit to handle xMEMs. With regular cans and IEMs they're the same product with the exception that Diablo-X doesn't feature Eco mode, which now engages xMEMs mode.

OK thanks. What are examples of xmems IEMs currently on the market? Can we get a good affordable answer (sub 300) as well as higher end stuff please?

What do you feel is so special about xmems that you decided to include it to upgrade your existing high tier amp/dac?

Thanks!

So, does it mean, you can't drive the most efficient conventional IEMs on the X as the Eco mode for them was replaced by the xMEM circuit?

The Diablo X package includes an iEmatch for this purpose.

Cheers!!

How do they compare resolution wise to regular hybrid In Ears?

Are they faster then BA drivers?
I haven't had a chance to listen to them just yet. These are review units from iFi. Impressions are coming soon.
