iFi audio GO pod + IEMs = brilliant wireless sound on the GO!
Jun 26, 2023 at 2:40 PM Post #721 of 2,077
I've been listening to the GO Pod and my RAPTGO HOOK-X for almost 2 days now and it is a pure bliss!...

Listening to all kinds of sources, my WAV files, Amazon Unlimited, Quboz, YouTube Premium. Everything is there plus that magic on the higher frequencies. The bass is full, the soundstage is expansive, crystal midrange clarity. The HOOK-X was my daily driver with the UTWS5 and I have to say that the GO Pod plays much better!! ❤️

Always listening to LDAC 990/909kbps - impeccable Bluetooth connectivity range.

PS: @agrosash for such inquiries it would be best if you'd open a ticket to iFi customer support.

@iFi audio would it be possible to get a flat 2-pin vs. recessed ear hook? Maybe even with a little piece of plastic that can be pushed onto the connector of the hook that comes with it?
At the moment the current set of earhooks that are currently listed is all that I am aware of.

As sooner folks have asked and now that three stand-alone pods are hitting three market, the need for different sizes, and also different types will certainly become a greater focus, so never say never.

Cheers!!

@jsmiller58 how are you finding your IMR + GO Pod synergy? How do the high frequencies sound to you?
Please, remind me which IMR model you have and which filters + tips you are using.

@Mr BubbaHyde I have a question regarding volume control. Since day one, I have observed that when I decrease/increase the volume on my GO Pod, the volume on my smartphone changes equally, as well. I am using the Samsung Galaxy 23 Ultra. Is this normal? What is the benefit of this?

Additionally, the FAQ about the GO Pod does not seem to work on the website. It shows there are FAQs but, when selected, nothing appears - see screenshot

I thought the "volume" question was normal for Bluetooth, at least any device tied directly to my phone or iPad worked like that, but I am a Bluetooth "newbie" so I could be wrong, lol

I will look into the FAQ page, perhaps just a website glitch.

Cheers!!

With my FiiO UTWS5, I am always setting the smartphone volume to MAX and then controlling the volume I am listening to from the UTWS5. The same is happening with my FiiO BTR7 and Qudelix 5K. Why is it different on the GO Pod, and is it better?

Yes, please, have a look at the website.

Finally, I do not have any response, yet, on the ticket I've submitted yesterday 26 June at around 9:30 UK time. This ticket contains all of the recent questions asked here. I know the SLA is 48 hours. I am hoping to receive a reply to all these questions by tomorrow morning.

May I PM you the ticket number to check progress, please?

I do not have a way to directly check "Ticket Status" So I will defer to their process, apologies.

I am inquiring about the volume question, as I said I do not know either.

Cheers!!

At first glance you might have absolute volume enabled. Please check this article out:

https://mobileinternist.com/android-absolute-volume

But considering you don’t experience it on other devices this may not be the case. Worth checking out, though.

BTW, this is normal/standard for iOS, but Android gives you an option.

I actually no longer use my IMR IEMs, just pulled that one out to check on the attachment for you.

Thank you very much! After enabling "Disable Absolute Volume" in the Developer Settings of my S23 Ultra and restarting, it now works! I can set the phone volume to MAX and control the actual volume from the ear loops. :)

Now all I need to do is find the right combination of filters + tips because my IMR Elan+ sound kind of muffled/veiled (on the higher frequencies) with the majority of my music sources, besides my WAV files...

At least in the Gryphon, iFi utilises a proprietary system called "VolumeSync", which somehow matches the device volume in the analogue realm (paraphrasing as I don't recall the exact wording). I found this to be pretty awesome and convenient, since it allowed me to change my volume from anywhere. Roon remote, iPhone, Apple Watch, Windows computer, Mac. Everywhere. I haven't found this to alter the SQ at all. Maybe something similar is found in the GO Pods.
