At some point in the future it would be merciful to take the DAC out of the iFi iDSD Valkyrie
and market a stripped-down desk-top DAC at a price-point that is more accessible to mid-tier buyers if that is even possible.
Being a huge fan of your Burr Brown implementation I have no shame in asking.
The Valkyrie is a beautiful thing but not in my budget regrettably.
I am so grateful to have your Zen DAC Zen DAC 3 which I love.
So thank you for that.

A dac to go with iCan Pro. I would have bought the iDSD Pro, but no need for the extra streaming capabilities.
Would the new Valkyrie be a good pair for the iCan Pro?

I wouldn't see why not, but I would suggest that there may not be a need for the iCan with the Valkyrie, off course I would wait for more opinions based on your headphone choices.A dac to go with iCan Pro. I would have bought the iDSD Pro, but no need for the extra streaming capabilities.
Would the new Valkyrie be a good pair for the iCan Pro?![]()
If you need 4 pin XLR as an example. The big advantage of the Valkyrie would be that you could feed the Pro off of the variable out of the Valkyrie to get the benefit of the K2HD processing, fed to the Pro.
However you could get an adapter for your cans and use the Valkyrie solo
Could simply comer down to personal preferences but I have seen the Valkyrie pair well with all sorts of cans and also IEMs
YMMV
Cheers!!

Exactly the same for me!I really want a higher end stand alone DAC that will feed my iCan pro signature. I love the burr brown sound you have developed but I don’t need the x-bass, x-space, tubes, etc that the pro iDSD has because the amp has all that, and I don’t need another headphone output.
Basically I want a standalone version of the DAC section of the iDSD pro.
I’d also be interested in your take on a full R2R DAC

Valkyrie features a Quad BB DAC, while the additives are there, the use of them would be personal for individual headphone setups....Exactly the same for me!![]()
The K2 and K2HD are the key pluses in this scenario
Use or not use is personal...
However your thoughts are noted and passed along
Cheers!!

That's also a great idea!A top high end transportable (like iDSD or Diablo), battery operated R2R DAC with a top USB connection that doesn't need a DDC. Many of us have great desktop tube or SS amps on our desks so having a high end transportable device that we can use both at our work desk as well as using it to listen in other rooms of the house makes it a great versatile device. Many people are willing to pay $2-3k on great DAPs but many (like me) prefer to use their phone and portable computer as source so a top sounding transportable device is what we are looking for. Other manufacturers have broken the size barrier building DAPs with a R2R DAC so I'm sure iFi is certainly able to build a top sounding R2R DAC in a device like iDSD or Diablo that has more space then a DAP. Thanks for considering it.

I've been looking the DAC upgrade to par with the Meze Elite and iCan Pro. Also better transportable device with listening Elites in different rooms and to take it with on travels. Probably Valkyrie could tick all the boxes.

Mr Bubba, thank you for the reply!

I really love the features of iCan Pro which versatilities Valkyrie could enhance, and of top the K2 and upsampling. Would it add more xBass and xSpace levels? And would it's quad BB DAC be better than SU-9 Ultra's AK4499EX? I have had Gryphon, and really liked the sound signature.
