iFi audio’s Ask-Me-Anything thread: Thorsten Loesch

What does the "- - -"-symbol on the picture mean? And why is the ipower categorized as AC and the drawing on the ifi Zen says, that it needs an DC?

Edit: Also, when the - - - drawing on the back of the zen DAC means, that the zen dac needs a DC with negative polarity, why is the ipower classified as AC and has positive polarity?

The iPower is correctly labelled.

It says: "Input: 110/240 VAC"

The iPower is designed to be powered by AC mains.

The Output of the iPower is DC at the stated voltage (5V/9V/12V/15V) and up to the stated maximum current A.

Yes, i meant the picture above. The sign on the ipower shows also the "positive to centre"-symbol. I just ordered this power supply here

https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B01I1JEWPU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

because the description says, that is positive in the centre and negative on the sides". The power supply doesn´t have any "positive/negative to centre"-symbol and that was what i was confused about.

I hope that running this power supply won´t damage the zen dac.

It's about time @iFi audio showed up to put this one to bed.

Requesting some suggestions for getting my iFi Micro iDSD to work with 176.4-KHz and 192-KHz SPDIF (Toslink) Optical inputs.
.
Part of my home audio system consists of -
PC [Toslink] -> 4x4 Toslink Matrix Switch [Toslink] -> iFi Micro iDSD
.
The iDSD works with Toslink input signals up to 96-KHz.
.
All three of the other devices, connected to the outputs of the 4x4 Switch, work with 176.4-KHz and 192-KHz inputs -
Topping D70 - 2x AK4497EQ DAC
FiiO Taishan D03K - Cirrus 4344 DAC
BlitzWolf BW-BR4 - Bluetooth V5.0 aptX HD Transmitter
.
Thanks for any help!

That's odd. Pro iDSD's optical input should handle everything up to 24bit/192kHz. I assume that your optical switch doesn't truncate signal it sends out?

How well does the Zen dac play with the 2nd gen Airport Express? I plan to buy one and feed it thru the AE optical out. My main concern is around jitter that I've read on several forums. Thanks

Thanks Zeka good point. I cant believe I missed this. Just assumed it would. That's too bad though. A bit off topic but does anyone have any experience of doing this with a Schiit Modi 3?

Is there anyway of charging the Black Label while using with an Android phone? Is there a splitter USB cable doe example (one side for signal the other for power)?

A splitter USB cable with separate line for powering was mentioned once or twice somewhere, but I can't recall where exactly. The original micro iDSD BL thread would be a good place to ask.

Hi Ifi Audio

I've searching around in vain to buy
Ifi micro itube2

All local distributors that's listed in Asia is out of stock and say this product is discontinued. I contacted them all by email one by one.

I like to have my system colored with the 2nd order harmonic distortion aka Tubes.

Do you plan to restart production or moved to something like itube 3?

Thanks in advance

PS: I just received my Zen Dac signature V2 and currently post this and listening delightfully to it.
