Can they be driven with some type DAC/amp like the ifi gobar using an iPhone? I do use Tidal and Quboz app on my iPhone. So, when in the car, and not using the headphones, I would want use something between my phone and the Apple CarPlay…

kind of multi-purpose…. BTW, this would be a more mobile (not wearing on the go) as I go between my homes. Also, I’m more of an R2R DAC person, at least for home use…
Let me put it this way - I can listen to my IER-M9 directly connected to my old iPhone SE but I never do, because the iPhone sounds dead. The M9 scales with the source and I assume the M7 as well. That's why I always carry the Mojo2Poly with me and often use the M9 with my Hugo2Go at home. That latter combination is stunning in it's detail, imaging and liveliness! For your use case just get as good a dongle DAC as you can justify. The M7/M9 have a laid back, warm and smooth sound and should pair well with DAC that's a little more energetic.
Also consider tip rolling - the M7/M9 are quite sensitive to tip choice. I ended up with the Sony EP-NI1000 foam tips after going through dozens of choices.

Right on spot mate!
They scale well with powerful source, even they can be listen through phone. But ifi go bar (or any other great dongles) should do the work if you choose to go with most portable setup, different story with 7hz Timeless that sounded very different when connected to uncapable source.
But as @surfgeorge said, for best experience, go with powerful DAP.

The ThieAudio Elixir (200usd) might be worth looking in to. Soundstage isn’t remarkable but it’s quite close to the ThieAudio Clairvoyance especially considering the $500 price difference. Personally I’d be happy with the Elixir as my only IEM if it came to it (I own them, the Clairvoyance and 64a Nio, for reference). But I’ve heard it’s very much source dependent, which I’ve not tested (I use with a Fiio M11 Plus ess.

Another might be the Oracle by the same company (~520). Pretty much a Clairvoyance with less bass and slightly less forward in the ear gain region. BUT,… the shells are,… absolutely perfect for someone like me but so large as to be unusable for others.

I’d check out reviews by Resolve, I believe his name is, from headphones.com as he always references jazz in his reviews. And he quite liked the Dunu SA6. If you’re buying blind I’d go with that one. Fit shouldn’t be an issue and it’s on the laid back/inoffensive side of things.

The Pilgrim coming out shortly will be $399 and up there with the best I would think, IMO at least.
