IEM for plane / sleeping

Had a look at se530's they seem pretty pricey for IEMs. $500 for SE530pth. Any other suggestion for slightly cheaper IEMs. I understand Etymotic could charge a premium when they were the only people in the IEM market - but heaps of people are making IEMs. There must be some pretty decent phones in the $100-$300 bracket.

Just saw the thread, seems $300 is the going rate. That would be the absolute top end of my budget. I'll see what price I can get.

Any other suggestions or are se530's my only real option?

The UM 1 and 2 are the only other iem's In your range I can think of that have a flush fit. however the 530 can be had on amazon for about 255 (if you get it w/o PTH) which is similar to street price of UM-2. I have not heard UM2 but I can vouch that SE530 is far better than UM 1 and worth the extra money. Like I've said before, I prefer my sf5pro over the SE530 for a 100, but the se530 is the only one that you can lie on the side of your head with.

for plane there are better options but the one i have found to be much better than um2/ck10/se530/er4/turbine/pfe etc etc for sleeping is the qjay from jays. it somehow just sits better for sleeping on the side no matter that its shape is longish and would seem the opposite for good sleeping habits.

The UM2, UM3X and SE530 are what most people would recommend for sleeping and flying, not necessarily in that order. Preferences in sound would vary but all 3 are great phones.
And Kobayashi, no reason to be impolite and do name calling. That kind of behavior could get you ostracized in this community or at the very least would make people ignore your comments. No offense intended, but most people would agree with me.

According to earphonesolutions' website, the Westone UM1 is good for sleeping on the plane. Has anyone here used it on the plane? I'm looking at this set of earphones right now. I'm kind of a side sleeper and I'm not whether the UM1 will cause any discomfort when I sleep on my sides. I know my E4G did!

Just got the se530s delivered. Initial impression is that base is good but higher frequencies seem a little muffled. Will have to do some more listening over the next week.
