So I am seeing the Sennheiser IE4 goin for $55 or so on Amazon.com and want to know anyone try them? I have seen all over this site people giving the pricier IE6 and 8 good marks, but nothing about this one. Logic would assume this would be a pretty solid pair of IEM based on the pricier models in the line, but that could also easily be just as wrong. How would these compare to the top of the CX line the CX500(or maybe its the CX400 II as the top line, their price scheme isn't that clear). So i want to ask how do these sound? What about build? And they worth the double 5 they are going for?

IIRC the IE4 is a very old earphone originally based on a 6-year-old Sharp design. It was the progenitor for the entire CX series but Sennheiser kept it around as a minimalistically-packaged product for the professional market. It has a consumer equivalent - either the CX400 or CX500 (can't remember) and is not technically part of the audiophile 'IE' series at all. To be completely honest the original CX line is getting old and what were once higher-end models (CX400, CX500) are now barely competing with newer ones like the CX280 and CX281 and not competing at all with smaller 'hi-fi' manufacturers.
