Just ordered iDAC 2 from Amazon.de! Hope it will make wonders with my silver-cabled HD598's.

Hi all,
I would like to upgrade my DAC Onkyo 1000, so I would like to know the quality of sound of Micro iDSD vs iDAC2, I dont use headphone and I play DSD in my computer with HQplayer. So what should I need?

AND do i need DSD512? or is DSD216 enough? My friend said that at moment there is not any DSD512 which I can buy.

many thanks

Hi,

Computer + no portable use = go for iDAC2. No need to go overboard to get the micro DSD.

Cheers.

Hi there!

Just ordered a ifi micro iDAC2 yesterday, it will change me from my old FiiO E10K, for sure!

Just a quick question about the integrated USB cable: does a 3.0 cable will help better driving headphones than the included 2.0 ? or not?

Cheers'

*edit* : nevermind, just found my answer HERE

Thanks bro, just the final question, how is difference of quality of sound between Micro and IDAC2? thanks for your quick answer

Hi,

You won't lose anything with the iDAC2 over the micro DSD. They are both cut from the same AMR cloth.

Others are better placed to advise as we're biased!

I've recently reviewed the iDAC2. Thanks iFi for the loaner. I really hope that this is helpful for those making a decision on a new DAC. It is a very solid DAC that sings more sweetly with an iPurifier2.

Enjoy the review!

great review, I had the same impressions on the natural and smooth sound signature when using the iDAC 2 + iPurifier2. Its a great match.

At the moment i use HA1/HiFi M8,with a variety of ear/headphones. After reading the forums/reviews, i have ordered the iDAC2,and the iCAN SE. Interesting to see how they will perform.

I already have the iCan SE having owned the normal iCan for good while and its sensational.

At the moment it's being used in conjunction with a Nano iDSD and iTube but assuming the winds are right and the postie does their job I should have an iDAC 2 and iUSB 3 in my grubby mitts tomorrow.

Excited is not the word. I do like my ifi kit and this final pair should about finish off my first proper headphone system...

Have you also purchased a Mercury & Gemini cable? I found the Mercury cable in my setup to be a big step up from cheaper cables.

I haven't yet. I'm not sure I believe the theory behind USB cables sodding better (but genuinely not wishing to start yet another debate on this subject!).

I have got some good quality leads on the way and I may yet audition a set and if they do make a difference I'll pay the money.

Although expensive the other reason is consider them is simply to complete the set up. I have a iRack coming also so they'd certainly complete the look.

Have just got the iFi iDAC 2 and I must say it elevated my experience with HD 598's.

Everything I loved and now much more of it. A lot more bass, bigger headroom and impact, now you really feel that power behind the volume dial. I am still burning DAC in, but I have noticed much more intimate and musical sound, just right and true to life. Ability to fine-tune the volume is very appreciated and feels so professional. Looking forward to upgrade the USB cable and incorporate iPurifier 2 into the chain. It should round all the corners.
