i'd like to upgrade my marantz, any good cd-players within $1000?

Go with Cary, Arcam or Krell then. Like I said before, listen before you buy.

Musical Fidelity A3 is available NOW in our local store... i'd like to go and have a try sooner or later.

is this cd-player as good as it descibed on some of the magazines ?

If you love articulation, check out cyrus CD7. IT has the best articulation under $1,000 from various CDP I have listened to.

not much said about the rega planet cd. I have been thinking about one of these for quite a while.... from what I have gathered it seems people either love em or hate em.....

upscale does njoe tjoeb repairs and stuff in house. had a transformer issue about a year and a half ago (i drilled into it by accident, long story) and kevin provided a new transformer the same day. the player doesn't have reliability issues.

not familiar with the cd-19a but the cd-17 is a hell of a transport. don't rule out dacs.
