Unfortunately 1.5.2 changes nothing at all. Every scanning process leads to a crash of my DX80. After the crash I cannot access the missing music via the library (because there it is missing) or folder (media scanning starts, finishes and nothing happens). In addition I am not able to change any setting.

Back on 1.3.3 everything just works fine. Seems with 1.5.2 they just updated some drivers, but didn't fix the errors introduced with the 1.4.x release.

I don't know but buying the DX80 seems more and more to be a mistake.

Regards

Just updated the FW via the Batch-Tool and guess what?
All my issues are solved!
I've 2 Sandisk 200Gb cards with more than 11.000 ALAC-files.
- (null) files: zero!
- "forgotten" files: zero!
- Scanning-speed even better!

Unfortunately not everything is ok with the FW 1.5.2. After turning the DX80 on it's impossible to skip first track as it returns to the beginning of it each time I press the "next track" button. The only way to get through this issue is either listening it to the end or fast forward letting it end in "natural way". It's a pity as I really thought that this time everything was sorted out. Ok, back to FW 1.1.4 again. Should I really look elsewhere for a excellent sounding and powerful mid-fi DAP? Dunno but my patience is not endless.

Ok I did some tests tonight. It seems scanning issues are not related to album artist field as I erronously stated before.

In my case, all scanning issues are probably related to a 3600*3600 cover.jpg file placed in a folder.
Now I resized it and all scan is fine!tried 3 times a factory reset and a full scan, it completed 100%

A little problem with 1.5.2 is some covers in Album view are not displayed anymore. I had to resize them. They were all about 1600*1600.
I resized them and all is fine again.

So it could be useful knowing from iBasso max size allowed for covers.

I have about 3000 files mostly flac and hires.
Hope it helps.

3600*3600 or 1600*1600 ?
what is the interest ?
All my covers are embedded in my 60k flac files, but they are limited to 500*500, it(s largerly enough...

Well I bought Iron Maiden The Book of Souls from HDtracks in 24-48 and the embedded cover is enormous, so much that with this 1.5.2 fw I couldn't see in album view. I had to extract, resize, embed again with mp3tag to display again

I have currently four DAPs here to compare, DX80, DX90, FIIO X5 and Xduoo X3 and from all those I like the audio signature of the DX80 the most. It so effortlessly puts extra punch in the music without make it tiring to listen, especially combined with a punchy IEM like the Tennmak Dulcimer its a Wow-combination. Currently listening to Ayreon 01011001 on that combo is mind blowing.

How far off do you find the X3 to be from the DX80 sound quality wise?

Has anyone actually been able to find their cue sheet organized Flac files in the genre field? This was the big problem. The new FW doesn't seem to make any difference. Flac files organised as one file with cue sheets still appear as null.

Scanning is a great deal faster for me on the new FW than on 1.4.2, but I'm still having occasional null issues, usually with between one and three tracks from the scan. I haven't reformatted my card in awhile, so I'll try that tonight. I'm still happy with the device overall, but there's no doubt that these nagging issues are frustrating. I can imagine that those who are experiencing a combination of different issues at once would be rightfully upset.
