I guess I'll keep it at 4x then.

What about the option of convert all PCM to DSD? Unneeded cause of the fpga dedicated to assist the clock ibasso optimized for the 300max?

My only Neutron problem (on 2max) is that it sometimes "plays" a track without any sound. Counter goes marching on and I can pause/play but no sound. Try the same track in Mango OS and sounds come flowing out. I'm just wondering if this is a settings issue?

2Max is capped out at 384Khz and while the whole system is capable of 768Khz. Therefore it is being firmware restricted down to 384Khz….🤯 it will just mute itself out

3Max will truncate it just fine because it isn’t restricted

PCM to DSD is not as impressive IMO, that is because the complete interpolations and modulations are done by Neutron engines, the SOC. Each modulations has it own secret sauces

By using Oversampling, you are listening to modulations by the built in dedicated DAC, be it ESS or AKM, you will witness the differences. Not only it sounds better, but also why you paid so much for AK4499EQ to be placed 2X into a player 😉😆

But sound is subjective, in other players, DSD by neutron is great, just not for 2Max and Dx300 as I am observing. So I will repeat what I said “Ibasso has a very well done DAC implementations in their flagship”

Aah....I see. I see.

Yeah. Convinced me.

.
768Khz will only show for 192Khz or 48Khz. The multiplication factors will have to be correctly of 2X, 4X, 8X, 16X.

If you have 44.1 @16x you will only see 705.6Khz and that is normal

If you are using 192Khz and @16X. You will see 705.6Khz due to Truncated mathematical model. This will degrade sounds. If so, reduce the Oversampling to 4
image.jpgimage.jpgit is not.

.

it is not.
192 is not being truncated ? Now this is beyond my comprehension atm
!! LOL... possibly still being reduced to 48Khz and then 16x up to 768Khz. Because that makes no senses, but I could be wrong. I recommend avoiding the “reduction modeling of algorithms”

What's the reason it's restricted, if it's capabilities are further? Seems unreasonable, but maybe there is a proper reason why?

The ESS consumes too much power and heating up like a monster as I was explained by Ibasso awhile ago. So it was best to restrict it down

Sounds fair, it could possibly damage the unit if it gets too hot. Does an underpowered ESS chip perform better than one that's fully utilized?

i understand, OS setting is just maximum you want NMP does for your files. But for files with high bitrate NMP will adjust OS multiplier accordingly.

if you set 4x NMP will not go beyond 4x. If you will set 16x it will do 16x for 44.1 and 48, but for 352 and 384 NMP will adjust only 2x.

That would be awesome if it does accordingly and automatically that way. I recalled someone had that problem previously ?
