Alternatively ibasso could fix the Ultimate Mode issue with an update, as they should, but no reply unfortunately from @Paul - iBassoMaybe we can get @Paul - iBasso to weigh in on the issue.

I wonder could we roll back directly to the older firmware? Have any risk for this ? Thanks !!In my opinion the older firmware is better because the Ultimate Mode works as it supposed to work. In the newer one you lose much of the clarity while operating on UM.
I'm afraid there isn't a direct way to downgrade the firmware. I have downloaded the file from Ibasso's website and flash it using the same method as you would use for flashing regular DX300. There is a manual on the download page.I wonder could we roll back directly to the older firmware? Have any risk for this ? Thanks !!
I suggest whipping the device before and after flashing.
Got to say I am a little disappointed. Reached out to iBasso about the issue with the latest firmware and Ultimate mode.
The feedback I got is that "they did not measure or hear and degradation to the sound". They suggested a software reset (which I tried before and it did not help) to "try a previous firmware using the tool on the 1st page".

I don't hear any deterioration of the sound with the latest firmware. What is it that you actually hear?Very disappointing. Unacceptable even.

Got a question. If I want to run my dx300 into my stereo (got a nice new one! But no balanced input). Can I use my amp 12 line out? I have a balanced to stereo connector/adapter (I think I bought it from ibasso) and can run through that. I’m surprised though - the volume goes up and down when I adjust the volume level on the ibasso when I use the line out port. I thought line outs were fixed volume.
Just trying to play high def lossless on my new stereo!

Hi. Did you manage to replicate the issue?I don't hear any deterioration of the sound with the latest firmware. What is it that you actually hear?
To sum up, I hear a marked deterioration of sound quality (mainly dulling of treble, loss of detail, narrowing of stage) as soon as ultimate mode is engaged. I have tried using UAPP, Tidal and Mango and the effect applies across all.
To date, there is no response or acknowledgement from iBasso or suggested steps to roll back to a previous firmware version.

Have you done this? was it the best FW for DX 300 Max?I’m on the latest 2.02. Want to try roll back to 2.01
No I haven't yet. I tried using the system updater using a previous firmware but it does not allow it. Will need to do it using the tool referenced on the first page - will give that a go later in December once work is quieter.Have you done this? was it the best FW for DX 300 Max?

i give the latest firmware (2.022.131 via OTA) a try, using the same playlist, D1 filter, volume, gain and ultimate mode now everything sound boomy compared to the stock firmware (1.03.209) but the good thing is UI become smoother and night mode is there.
