Finally, I published my DX300 MAX review. It took a lot, a lot of work. However, it was all worth it, and I am happy with the outcome. Had a lot of hiccups along the way, but life goes on and you push forward.

Wonderful review, and I look forward to your updates. Precisely why we all love our MAX. I will say I agree completely that the firmware could use a bit of updating hopefully in the very near future and as you mentioned the somewhat erratic battery level indicator that I am sure others like myself have experienced. It would be a wonderful firmware update if iBasso could introduce a battery management option so we can set battery charging percentage ie. 80% and it stops charging. @Paul - iBasso
FiiO has it on the M17 and they just updated their M11 Plus to add it as well so I think iBasso could do the same (heres hoping)

There is no portable that is better, IMO. And I have heard most all (a friend has most everything on the higher end of daps and I have a few as well).

I’m thinking of getting a dx240 to use when I go for walks etc. how does it compare?

Different but not lacking. I enjoy both. The DX240, frankly, is a big surprise on now it scales and they are coming out with a AMP8MKII. . . ! Very dynamic, open (large soundstage) and layered. I could live with either. I also change off on the DX300 or the DX240 for car use in my FJ Cruiser (Aux input) or my Supra 2020. And I have read that a tube amp is coming for the DX300. Fun stuff!
