That's what I am looking for since I used DAP outdoors for my local library. At home I use desktop and fullsize HP.

I like to use DSD and R2R will not do that. Only PCM.

R2R can't play DSD, however, RS2 has dedicated chip to natively play DSD. This is way better than Sony A55, it simply plays MQA as static noise.

It should, but all my MQA in my library can be played in DX160 without any problem, but not in A55 for some unkonwn reason. I am no longer use A55 anyway.

What is the process for updates on this? Is it OTA or does it need to be connected to a PC and download firmware?

I'm using Nova launcher premium so all my apps are in an app drawer that you access by swiping up, enabled gesture navigation, and yes, you can have whatever background you want.

I have seen some criticism levelled at the DX170 in various places about its hardware spec being compared to budget smartphones. Sure, you can buy a smartphone at a similar price with better specs, but what people fail to realise is that these same smartphones also lack the ability to reproduce sound quality anywhere near to what the DX170 can - if at all. It's a frankly stupid comparison to make. Of course it's not going to be competitive on a raw spec level (soc, ram etc.) because the money is being spent on sound reproduction. Just look at iBasso's own DX320 which has the sound quality chops it does with its ROHM DACs, ram and soc, and rom for the price of today's premium smartphones is surely enough to realise that, in some weird way, maybe the best value to be had is actually with its TOTL players. Consider me an iBasso evangelist from now on.

The A55 with MrWalkmans WalkmanOne modded fw plays mqa and dsd, can't remember what the stock fw did

Looked at it as well. Not a very compelling package...If you can call it that?

RS2 is a very compelling package if one want's a pure off line music only player which is what I want
