Awesome! This is what I'm looking for. Thank You! I would very much like your opinion with the DX150, giving it has an updated amp section (AMP6) and uses dual AK4490 DAC's, In my opinion the few AK DAC's I've heard in the past I've preferred over the ESS (sabre) but DAC's alone don't make up the the entire sound signature, I almost pulled the trigger on the 150 just by specs alone, but I'd love to read some reviews and comparisons first. Cheers!

I'll surely write about it as soon as it gets here :)

iBasso makes good DAPs in general, I'm also eager and curious to hear it!

Usually, and I can't really say which is in exact place since I am not that kind of person, DX200, X7mkii, and Opus #2 are among the best things I've heard as far as DAPs go. I tried some higher end stuff as well, like Hugo, and many other things, but those DAPs make listening to a DAP feel really really nice, along the lines of being so good that I use the DAP rather than a DAC/AMP because of convenience

When I reviewed each of those high-end DAPs, I tried to offer an in-depth comparison between them and tell which does what and which does what best, there are inherent differences that one might like about each DAP, some of which can be as simple as the design, at this point it really boils down to preferences.

DX200 is super potent, and surely is in top 3 DAPs I heard to date, and that list includes other flagships, those 3 just feel really good to me. Sonic Wise, DX200 + AMP5 is really amazing, the technical abilities are as impressive as they can be :)
The best daps I have heard are the DX200, the WM1Z and the SP1000. The X7II, IMO does not fit in that league. The DX200 with the AMP5 compared to them single ended to me is better and the AMP4 takes it up to another level in balanced and besides the DX200 CuAu is the best I have heard. The SP1000 has a wonderful open quality with good impact and space. The WM1Z has an excellent musical quality that has few faults. Where I find the DX200 betters these is in overall impact, dynamics and 3D presentation. They all three, IMO, have this but the DX200 takes it up just a bit. I have heard the DX150 extensibly and I think that many people are going to enjoy the quality they hear, especially at the price, let alone the build and feel. I also like the feel and build of the SP1000.

I should be able to go to a local audio store to try out the DX200 later.

I have tried out the Sp1000 before and it really wowed me with its holographic instrument separation. Instruments are very well defined with lots of space and air around them.

It's very big and heavy though.

Any info how good is the software on DX150?
As good as DX200. The hardware platform of DX150 is the same as for DX200 (apart from the audio circuits, of course), and the software is the same as well, but, obviously, newer than the latest release for DX200. The main visible difference is removed pure Mango mode.

Many months ago I compared the DX200 to the WM1Z and the AK380 and said that the DX200 was right there with them. That was with AMP2. Now with AMP4 the difference is more pronounced to my ears. The level of detail and separation with the DX200 surpasses the WM1Z and soundstage beats the AK380.

My favorite DAPS to date are the DX200, the WM1Z, and the SP1000 as well. However the SP1000 is a brick...and by that I mean freaking HEAVY. For me personally, I would never carry that thing around outside of the house. The WM1Z seems, to me at least, like the Jaguar of the DAP world. More status symbol than anything. The DX200 with AMP4 sounds better to my ears. The Cu DX200 blows its doors off.

@icefalkon : If you have a chance to try DX200 Gold plated Copper version. I afraid that your SP1000 will become feather-light weight. DX200 Au/Cu weight is approx. 4 times of normal DX200. lol

Yes. @jamato8 and I had it for a weekend at the NYC CanJam in February. It’s heavier than the DX200 but not as heavy as the SP1000 rig one of the Head-fi members brought over to us. That, the DX150, and the IT01’s/IT04’s were the stars of our table.

Also, while heavier than the DX200...I do not remember the DX200 Cu being over 2lbs Chai. I do remember being wow’d by the weight of the DX200 Ti version.

The guy who brought over his SP1000 also had an amp attached to his unit. I know the base weight of the SP1000 is almost identical to the DX200 but the total weight of the rig I got to play with was heavier.

I hope that clarifies what I meant.

Yup Lurker that’s about what I figured. Certainly not 4x the weight. Again...the external amp he had attached to his rig made the whole package heavier and unwieldy. To me at least.

@icefalkon : Take it easy. I just tried to speak in a chilled way. I didn't even use weighing apparatus to check and know what the exact weight of DX200 Au/Cu is. Thanks @Lurker0 for accurate info.

Hey folks, just to let you know that Advanced MP3 Players will have the DX150 up for pre-order later this week. There's currently a 15% off sale going on right now so it's an ideal time for EU iBasso enthusiasts to pre-order one a bit cheaper.
