nice review, but it makes me question did using different amp modules make a big difference on the sound signature of dx200, as some users when they got the dx200 at its first release they did not like its cold analytical sound signature. if yes then i would buy the dx200 if changing amp modules made a notable difference than to buy the dx150, as dx200 price is not that high after all compared to some totl daps

my main goal is to get a great dap for streaming purposes to be used with my legend x, I would have bought a sony but its lack of streaming is whats keeping me from buying one

as for AK daps their totl are way too expensive to consider, although I am sure AK SP1000 would be amazing with legend x

All the Amp modules have their own tone and signature. The stock AMP1 for DX200 is by far the thinnest and coldest. But even with that, the DX200 is still an upgrade over the DX150. And yet, the 150 is tremendous all the same. iBasso simply makes great devices. :)

thats nice to hear, do u think the difference in sound between both is mainly due to different dacs

I would say it's about 50% DAC 50% Amp, 102% fairy dust.

Just ordered a dx150 and it should arrive tomorrow. I got a discount on it £445ish on advanced mp3 uk using voucher code amp-12.

Time to get my flacs on a memory card ready for when it arrives. What's the best firmware for it currently?

I am sorry to correct you but it is 98% fairy dust. We try to keep it below 100% as music madness can occur. That is the lack of ability to work or do anything else but listen to music.

Strong of Arm and Fist – A Review of the iBasso DX150

Yeah, definitely a nice review. Seems like most end up in the same place. It's not quite the DX200 in SQ but it sure is a whole lot of DAP for the money and in a lot of ways I prefer it over the DX200 in terms of usability and aesthetics.

What is the most versatile AMP?

So far, probably AMP5. It also has the most power, so that would probably make it most versatile

Since most stuff is single ended, it has probably the best of all worlds.

Since there will be an AMP8, AMP9, those might become the most versatile now, but from all I tested, so up to AMP 6, AMP5 is probably the most versatile, if we are being honest.

AMP 3 is Balanced only,

AMP4S is 4.4mm balanced only

AMP1 is very versatile, has both SE and Balanced, but less power than AMP5

AMP5 has only SE, but a ton of power

AMP 6 has everything, SE, Balanced, but it is smooth, warm.

AMP1 or AMP6. Of those two, I prefer AMP6.

So, AMP7 3.5mm TRS with line out and AMP8 4.4 TRRRS no line out and not a limited run.

I'm thinking add the 1+5.
Thanks
