You can always re-solder opamps

For a Dap, I'd take low output impedance over rollable opamps any day. It has digital and analogue line out so you can always just add your own amp or even dac if you like.

Music with a severe overkill sample rate of 192kHz and 24-bit.  Most music is 44.1kHz and 16-bit.

$300 US will be max I'd spend on a high quality DAP. Also since it only has 64GB (less than half of what I have as portable) certainly wouldn't want it to have a high price tag- as that means I'll have to buy another 64GB Microsd. And even then two 64GB drives isn't exactly amazing.

Solid state is great as I treat my H140 like it's a egg, but still.....can't beat HD capacity.

I think you are totally missing the point - when iBasso use the term 'Statement', they arent talking about a 64GB flash-based player to undercut the iTouch on price ......

Sooner or later, I guess we all get to put up or shut up when something new comes out and we tell ourselves that the 'real world' just wont accommodate that kind of outlay - no matter how much I tell myself that the LCD-3 would be heaven-on-a-stick, I just cant get past the price. We'll know in a month or so how many of us are prepared to 'put up' for the DX100.

I wanted to know how the DX100 might stand up to the desktop set up of a Schiit Bifrost + Asgard combo.  I would assume that the mid range desktop set up would destroy it but I need a competent set up that's portable.  Obviously they haven't even released the DX100 but if it's an improvement over the hm-801 and somewhat comparable to a mid range set up for my HD 800s, then this would be worth looking into.

No, there is nothing they can cram into the DX100 that can stand up to a solid mid-fi desktop (preferably tube) amp for the HD800.  Physics won't allow for it.  If you want to compare the DX100 v. the 801 eventually then that's fair game.

I would not assume a midrange desktop would destroy it since no one has heard it.
