Checked the 1Plus2 price with Gavin but this is too expensive ( USD1,295). Also, I don't want too much bass in my IEM. The Heir 8 also is outside of my budget.

I'm very very glad about that :p

How are you getting on with the Rendition Sorensiim? Worthy upgrade on the DX100?

Listening to it right now with the 8.A, but too early to say anything conclusive. I'd say it adds "Authority", everything is very well controlled and bass punches hard and dry without being boosted. Not a HUGE upgrade over the DX100, but then again, which amps are? We're really just adding icing to the cake by plugging an amp into the DX100.

The amp on the DX100 is one of its most impressive features, IMHO...

it is likely that the bomb rig you are trying to make , is actually pretty much overkill , the DX 100 have one of the most powerfull amp ever attached to DAP , if we go by what it actually can power and drive to its fullest
the question is
what is your cans that you need the intruder for the DX 100?

A few things I found out about my DX 100 (that you may already know)

1. It gets the hottest when you are listening and charging at the same time.
2. At 60% battery, the sound quality degrades, it is not hifi, as dynamic, and doesn't pack a punch with LCD-2s.
3. Although the built in amp is decent, I find that a simple home made amp consisting of a decent op amp for voltage gain and LME49600 current buffer (running with 2 9V batteries) sounds better and has much more punch.

Does anyone know of any portable player that has a high quality dac but no built in amp?

Thanks.

I have the DX100 and I used it also with LCD2. So I know that it has the power. But, as a tire commercial says: "power is nothing without control", I was trying to find out if, used with a RSA Intruder, the DX100 could offer me better and more controlled sound quality.

... and the 'phones I will use for the portable rig will be Heir Audio 5.0. They don't need more power than the Ibasso has to offer but maybe they'll be better controlled by the Intruder

Any feedback from someone who's tried it would be very useful!

Tera Player - if you don't mind the "only wav" policy. I hadn't had the opportunity to listen to it but it gets good reviews.

Not many ... but nonetheless good reviews.
