was mucking around with Rockbox on the DX today, nice clean interface, super responsive, liking it a lot

How does that setup sound with the DX100 into the O2/He-500? I'm not quite pleased with the DX100's amp feeding the HE-500, wondering if something like this would be comparable to a full-size desktop amp.

As I say ... Rockbox will NOT do high res files ... so it's a waste of time IMHO ...

I think a big part of it is bypassing the android driver for ibassos custom made one which fully utilizes the chip.

Screw the android driver (or any of those apps)... don't even go there ... the iBasso player is the one to go with ... sounds good to me and I don't need android to tell me it sounds better ... jelly babies or not!

iBasso did the workaround to be able to go to 24/192 while using Android. The version doesn't matter as what is important is that what Android is used, is just to use the DX as a player. So what they use the version that gets there and they modified it to their/our needs.

OK,  I maybe wrong there ... but I did not expect that!
Still, if I expect to hear 24/192 I want to hear that ... IMHO "what Android is used" is crap ...

I am not sure I understand. The version they use is most likely the one they will stick with. It is merely used as a vehicle to use the player, which it does.

So you are saying that the DX100 will not play 24 bit files? I don't understand your post ...

I've been listening to 24/192 files tonight and they sound fine ... I don't understand why you think the DX100 can't cope with them?

Explain please !

You don't have to post more than once, just edit to add to your question.

I never said that. What I am saying is that iBasso used the Android version that works for them. There is no need to go to a later version just because there is a later version, the one they use works for the DX.
