So, for what i've understood, the DX100 cannot work in any way as external DAC; since it don't have the usb receiver chip, right? Or no one know that for sure?

@Spock76591
The iBasso have answered to you that the DX100, wont function as external DAC, no? But have they also said, if it has (or will have) an usb receiver chip, or, at least, if in the future they will add any support for this function?

just curious....
why so many people want a DAP to have a external DAC function?

People want an all in one feature I guess. It would be a nice feature but I don't see it as a deal breaker for me. I also have a DACport LX for that very reason.

Having an inbuilt DAC feature will be very convenient for those who work with laptop/desktop outside of home since they will be carrying the DX100 with them out anyway.

Sounds like there is no USB receiver so this is not possible anyway.

The fact that it could only be battery operated means that your battery could easily be expended while running on USB DAC mode (assuming that it exists), leaving you with no more battery for its use as a DAP unless you spend long hours recharging them.

Why not just to put all the music in the DX100 and carry them with you I don't find this feature as a deal breaker either. Since i have a HM801 and have never used it as a external DAC. IMHO. =P

Because there are some that would like to listen to many different kinds of media via an ES9018 DAC

And not spend extra money on something like the DACport or D1.
And there are some who have alot more music than 64gb and multiple microSD cards can get annoying.
Then there's your laptop users and college students.

Audio comes in many form, ranging from large video collection of MTVs, live performance, to online streaming media. Also, for those doing audio mixing, an external DAC is always a plus.

There are so many external dacs on the market this shouldn't have to be one and trying to meet size constraints, it seems reasonable to add more, will add more size and weight. This one is a DAP that does an excellent job at what it does. Look at what we had just a couple of years ago, nothing like this and to date, this is the only that can do all that it does and with a professional fit and finish.

Shouldn't be too hard for iBasso to add GPS to the OS.

I totally agree with you. A DAP is a DAP and that's it. And not because it has the best dec chip in the world, then it should be used as an external DAC.
