Hi, 300MAX Y 320MAX are excepcional products y D16 is really tempting. I have some doubts
- the two knobs in D16 function for gain like dx320?
- how do you select line out as oppose to phone out?
- does it have doble battery, 3,7 v for the Dac and 7,4 v for amp like the max?

The smaller knob is for controlling the overall features of D16. Press once for OLED display, press and hold for a few seconds for features options. It can adjust gain from digital stage but I recommend L gain. It can also adjust the volume from the DAC digital stages

You press and hold the little knob that call out the options to do so, each press after calling out the main menu will allow you to surf through the options

It does have single pack of battery like DX240 and other stuff, no dedicated battery like Maxes. That is where the PB5 comes in for a Maxed out performances

Do you believe that the source of the coaxial signal could affect the sound? Perhaps a smaller Dap could be more convenient

Unless you want to Chase down the last sweat of everything. Otherwise, I agree with going for smaller DAP as coax transport

I am thinking Dx260 will be an amazing pair with it. I am seriously considering DX260 myself here as well

Squeezed every little last drop of Ibasso sweats . I like the sound of that name. I can not stop listening to it, and In that above picture, I was using D16-USB-PC toward my Large Stereos.

Need a stack name for the DC-Elite, it is that good. I am not sure what type of magic ibasso is up to!

Listening to more classical right now, and it is like hearing extremely good analog, the timbre is spot on and excellent spatial information. This is silly good. French horns have that real French horn sound that I hear in live performances.

May I ask which use case is relevant for DC Elite to D16? You use the D16 as amp to the DC Elite?

DC Elite into PB5 but I haven't read anyone testing it yet.
Btw I ve recently read the Twister review about DC Elite talking about the Ibasso 3.5mm to Coax Adapter working on DC Elite too!
So could that mean DC Elite could work as some kind of DDC into D16?
E.g:

- DC Elite via Coax into D16

That's interesting, DC Elite has the Rohm chip while D16 DAC should be a very different sound signature. Did you do a head to head between DC Elite to PB5 vs D16 to PB5? This comparo could give us a sense of the specific flavour of the D16.

Also, well I'd be shocked if we would get better results using DC Elite as a DDC before D16. I can't imagine that iBasso would have put better electronics into the USB IN of it's $449 dongle then inside its flagship transportable DAC D16! But you never know, only some test cases will tell for sure!
