IBasso DC-Elite . . . The no compromise DAC/AMP with a true Stepped Attenuator

Has anyone had experience with the DCE paired with Sony IER-1Zs? I'd be using them with a MacBook at home so portable application is not a consideration. Also, anyone compare the DCE with either of the Sony WM1a or !z? Many thanks!
I wouldn't rec z1r with dce. Analytical dce makes z1r sound a bit high happy. Listening to this combo right now. I prefer z1r with warmer wm1z. For dongles, z1r to me sounds more agreeable with warm neutral w4 than dce.

I have only one sony iem mdr ex 600 and is absolute hell tuned. Timsok ts 316 is tuned like heaven against it. I love timsok on dc elite that much that i find cantor is only little better in technicalities. Ts 316 can iems like sennheiser ie 800,ie 800s slaped to the ground.

The Grand Maestro is indeed a beast—one of the finest out there! In my opinion, the iBasso DC Elite has plenty of power, but the GM isn’t just about power; it craves finesse. The DC Elite should drive it well, but if you're chasing ultimate performance, a higher-end desktop setup might squeeze out every last drop of its potential.
Update on this. I just received my GM IEMs. Source is my S25 ultra. Tried with DC-Elite(with supplemental power), no chance. No bass at all but rest of the frequencies are there. Tried with Fiio BTR 17, no chance. Same story. Questyle CMA 18 did some justice, it opened it up.

Yeah, DC-Elite with a portable amp will do justice I guess.

You can try my trick combination. Only dc elite with balanced 4.4 jack that output is stronger and in aplication using another amping digital volume uping. I have about 110 digital plus amping in hiby aplication with open usb port in aplication is sublime. With this set is stronger than fiio m11 es plus on high gain. With xiaomi.

Its not the source problem but the iem- they arent the best tuned iems.. Maybe try EQ
there's no issue with dce or z1r on their own, it's just the synergy together is not good imo.

for example with w4, z1r sound great.

meanwhile, dce synergizes well with many other iems i tried.

most impressive synergy i noticed so far is with iex1. iex1 are very source picky due to 5 ohms impedance and sound bad with most sources. with dce, they sound amazing. although the background can get a little noisy, that's something i'm not too sensitive to if sq is otherwise enjoyable.

You pay too much attention to a "synergy". It has such minimal significance that it can practically be said to be non-existent. People need to start appreciating EQ more and stop this "synergy" madness.

Ok buddy, keep eq'ing...and ill keep synergizing.

Back to dce...listening with b2 phantom and synergy is great.

I think I'm fine with the more portable DC07Pro while I'm on the go. 07Pro has a warmer sig compared to its clunkier big brother DCE, which relies on a power bank to reach its full potential.

Personally I skip the DCE and just use the iDSD Micro BL to bridge the gap between desktop audio setup - I'm such a sucker for the sweet BurrBrown sonics

Beyond it all, the iBasso dongles are impressive in blocking EMI - which the E1DA handles poorly. Such a shame as the E1DA is such a pocketable beast, airier and livelier than DC07pro !
