Couple of nice stacks, but those silver edging..I hope you get your hands on it soon and compare it to your ultimate stack.

Easy...I never understood the Asian way of marketing audio.
No offenses....but that was also analog filtered as wellI hope the D17 output does not sound as digitally filtered as that face looks
According to Quobuz, my S24 Ultra shows 192 Khz to D16 when the song called too.Hi everyone! I just got D16. Love the sound and all. One thing though when connected to iPhone via USB-C - USB-C and playing Tidal, D16 shows the same bitrate - 44100 no matter which track is playing (eg iPhone Tidal app shows 48khz - D16 44100. Does anyone have the same issue?
Its not even comparable, D16 is better than DC Elite by miles.I just got the dc elite and really love the lush and lively engaging sound...especially in the mids.
if the d16 has similar sound signature, I'm thinking of selling the chord hugo 2 for d16 as dac to external desktop amp.
any thoughts?
Hi! Did you get an answer to your question? Have the same issueI have a question regarding volume mgmt. When using the D16 line-out with the PB5, what’s the best method for adjusting the volume (or is the way @twister6 did it in his review the best one under all conditions)?
I use it the „twister-way“: D16 set to line-out, 4.4 to PB5. D16 Amp gain Low, DAC gain High. Digital Volume 95. Then I adjust volume to my desire with the PB5s stepped attenuator.
Am I doing this right? Or should I e.g. raise PB5 volume more and adjust volume with D16 digital knob or change any other setting with both devices combined so I get the best performance/headroom/dynamics etc.?
Yeah, thank you! It is weird with iPhone... it sometimes jumps to another bitrate like 96000 and also stay there... No problem when playing from ibasso dx240 thoughAccording to Quobuz, my S24 Ultra shows 192 Khz to D16 when the song called too.
Maybe. It's Tidal problem. Check output if Tidal Setup and see....

This!I’ve always found a volume with the amp section. I never touch the dac volume, I don’t even know why it’s there.
DAC volume is total crap, agree... but it just doesn't feel right when use sensitive iems like Trio, set dac at 95 and turn amp on PB5 like 3-5 clicks...No I just left it at 95 all the time and only used the PB5s volume control (or D16 for that matter).
This!
Just play with it. I guess if you use the volume between 90-100 you should be fine without losing dynamic range.DAC volume is total crap, agree... but it just doesn't feel right when use sensitive iems like Trio, set dac at 95 and turn amp on PB5 like 3-5 clicks...
Even lower. 1 step on the DAC is 0,5dB, and the processor works with 32bit. The volume will be very low until you reach 24 bit.Just play with it. I guess if you use the volume between 90-100 you should be fine without losing dynamic range.
