Interesting. In LO mode, I can adjust to remove the clipping, but it LO mode the noise floor is raised and I hear quite a bit of hiss. In Phone-out mode, I get perfect black and it sounds so much better!
Interesting, I never heard the D16 hisses with my stuff but I dont have sensitive iems. I dont think the Shure can be that sensitive because it uses it own amp. May be other owner of shure will chime in

Doesn't hiss with anything else. And in LO mode to my C9 is fine. Not sure how much the signal is amplified in the Shure or whether it's just converting to the voltage bias for the electro-stats. Definitely a Shure problem rather than a D16 problem as the Cayin C9 as amp is fine

Today I just discovered a charging bug from D16 when it is too much drained out.

I left it playing overnight and charging. However, once fully charged, it stops charging and playing off the pack and will not be triggered to charge again unless I remove the cables and replug

So, I woke up with a deep discharged D16, it switch was on and it screen os black out. I plugged in USB C charger and it wouldnt have blue LED light charge indicator. I left it plugged in for 10 minutes and still nothing

I would have been freaked out by now. But having experienced this before in RC racing, I knew the packs were dead discharged. So I tool out my toolset and unplug the battery pack plugging in the D16 toward USB A 5V. It took a couple minutes and Blue LED light blinked once. This signals me that the charging circuit is healthy.

Unplugging the cables before reconnecting battery pack. Then insert USB A 5V again and Voila...!!! It starts charging.

So, just FYI, if your D16 refuses to charge due to Dead Discharge. Those are the steps to take

Hmm, I’ve had my system run all day while plugged in charging and it’s never stopped charging once full. The blue light right now isn’t on. Fully charged, used all day.

Happened to me many times as I was sleeping with it everyday.

Its just deep discharge. It wont turn on even after 10-20 mins. It just need about 30 min before you can turn it on. (after plugged to charging).

Not like our smartphones which you charge and you can start using when 1%.

Might be some mechanism for better battery life/protect batteries (if deep discharge happens).

But have you noticed your blue light turn back on again without you unplugging your charging cable? The D16 won’t charge again without you unplugging and reconnecting the charging cable.

Yes, it will not charge again unless replugging cables after it is fully charged

Yes, but in this case, the blue LED didnt even lit. Hence I mentioned the Dead Discharging states

Yes, I was afraid first time too. But its the same thing - its just deeply discharged. It wont even lit the blue light. It might, but when you try to turn it on, it wont start and blue light dies too. Probably some sort of battery protection as I said.

So how does it hold charge all day?

Agreed, what i did was unplugging battery pack then plug in 5V usb A charger. Wait a few minute then unplug charger, plug in pack, then charge again

It doesnt hold charge all day. The most it does is like 8 hours continous listening. By the time you arr 5-6 hours, just plug in charger

It was playing from 8-5 all day and plugged in. It’s still max charged.

Strange, that isnt my experience as my unit will always take in charges during operation. Once it battery is full, it stop charging, even when battery is deep and dead drained, it still wouldnt auto trigger charging protocol until cable reinsertions

I’ll pay more attention to it. But it’s playing all day and plugged in and at the end of day it’s max charge, as I take it home and listen at night not plugged in

This is interesting about the differences D16 owners are experiencing with respect to charging. I will run a test today on my D16 to see if my unit disconnects from the charger after fully charged. I know the blue led turns off when fully charged, but don’t know if the blue led comes back on again after a specified amount of battery drain on the D16 (without unplugging charging cable)…..I typically don’t have my charger plugged into my D16 24/7.

I will also note, when I boxed the D16 up after work, the blue led was not on when I disconnected both usb c and line out. Fully charged after playing all day. But I can’t confirm the behaviour of the blue led during the day. I’ll spin it around so it’s in view tomorrow and see what it does
