Ibasso 1 bit Discrete portable DAC with Resistors Array D16

I just completed my D16 charging test. I had my D16 on from 11 am to 11:45 pm. I left my usb C charging cable attached to the D16 the entire time. My battery meter indicator was showing that the batts were charging, and the blue LED next to my charging port was ON.

At around 12:30 pm, the battery meter showed that I had a full charge as indicated below, and my blue charging indicator turned OFF.

For the rest of the day and evening, the battery display never changed, and my charging indicator never turned back on.

At 11:45 pm, I decided to disconnect my charging cable, and the battery indicator changed from a solid, filled section to a 3 segmented indicator, still showing I had a full charge. My batteries had not discharged one bit.

So, apparently, even though my charging indicator (Blue LED) had turned off at 12:30 pm, the D16 must have still been utilizing the power from the DC charging cable.

For the D16 owners who are saying that their battery is discharging while the usb c charging cable is connected to their D16’s, the answer could possibly be that the charging cable was inserted into the usb c digital input instead of the usb c charging input….but this could only happen if a D16 owner was using the coax/optical input for data and maybe mistakenly inserted their charging cable into the usb c data input….just food for thought.

Hmm the plot thickens. Maybe it trickle charges to keep the battery closest to makes no difference full charged, and the blue led only light up when it’s charging at maximum.
Eh, the usbc cable broke.

@Paul - iBasso does this happen often?

Serious question... how can my D16 sound better than my HugoTT2 and MScaler? £1300 vs £7500. I'm defining better as "a more enjoyable listening experience".
Is there something wrong with my Chord setup?

i know the hugo2 is not at those levels, but it never gets used over the D16. It’s such an easy enjoyable listen, nothing is offensive about it. Silky smooth.

Did some more testing with the D16 re: charging.
I didn’t use it last night, so battery was full when I plugged it in at work this morning. The blue led came on, for no more than a second, then went off. Presumably for status checks. I’ve been using line out for a few hours and the LED did turn on for 20 mins or so, presumably to top up the battery, then turn off. So it continually tops the battery up during use when it’s plugged in to power.

Darn, I’m gonna need to watch more carefully if my blue charging led lights back up for a while then shuts back off…..I didn’t witness that happening in my test I did the other day, while having my charging cable plugged into my D16 the entire time. But it would make sense that the blue led should turn back on if the D16 wants to re-charge or “top off” the batteries after a certain level of battery drain takes place.

Fair fair. So how do you describe the sound with upgraded parts in what you hear?

If you connect them with BNC, rf noise could be a culprit. It can sound a bit harsh (used to have DAVE / mscaler and got rid of that using optical).

Yes. I've got the super expensive Wave cables interconnecting - so I doing the best I can to keep the RF noise at bay

Hi guys,

I just got my D16 and tried it for a while, and I need some feedback from more experienced users than me.
First of all, the USB C - USB C cable doesn't work when connecting it to my Ibasso DX260; I found it very strange, what else is it for?
Since it didn't work I tried another USB C - USB C cable (one I had around from the DX03 Pro) and this one did work.

As I understand it, the small knob is used to adjust the volume and access and change the settings, while the big one is to control the amplifier.

I've been playing around with the settings a bit, basically DAC gain (H/L) and AMP gain (H/L) and also increasing/decreasing the amplifier knob, and the changes detected are very subtle... really very subtle, hard to tell the difference (I was listening to the music with the Moondrop Cosmo).
Is this really the case? Forgive me, but my lack of experience combined with the fact that I bought the D16 second hand has left me a bit paranoid and cold.

Thinking about the cable and all this, it occurred to me that maybe it could be a fake...? (Are there fake Ibassos? And I live in China...gulp...have I taken a big risk?)
I know that buying second hand is not the best, but the seller had a good reputation and the price was a bit lower than buying new.
The appearance in every way is perfect... I have a PB5 bought new at the Ibasso store and they are similar in every detail.

People excuse me if what I say in my message seems a bit far-fetched; it's just that I expected more dynamic and not so subtle options in the D16 setting.
Regarding the cable, I can't understand it.

Could someone from Ibasso help me?
Thank you very much and sorry for the inconvenience.
