I think I have been scammed - help!

Dimitris, just wait a few more days man.
He might be just busy with something. I wouldnt call him 10 times a day to piss him off or something unless you waited for over a week without any communication from him.

Yep. PayPal + CC offers double protection. If PayPal doesn't do anything with your claim, you can do it with your CC company. Easy as pie

No and you should have thought of that before you got into the transaction. After you’ve sent the money is a little late to be worried about your options.

Mitch

I don't think this is entirely true. A check is not cash. He probably has options for recourse with his bank.

x2.... I once waited ~2 weeks for my check to clear. I won an ebay auction for something out of state.

I send a $9000 check out of state for my wifes engagement ring, that took ~10 days to clear. So... I can understand your lack of patience, but give it time.

At least give the seller a few days to respond...

x2

The Cremona Auditors are beautiful sounding speakers. I've had a brief listen once and was pretty satsified. Did you get the "red-orange" or "dark grey/black-ish" ones?

I have been in the position of the receiving party a couple of months ago.
It did actually take TWO WHOLE WEEKS for the money to get into my account AFTER the bank had acknowledged the transfer......
My guess is he honestly doesn't have posession of the money yet. But to be on the save side: just ask your bank, they will tell you.

Yes. I got the graphite color (if they ever show up here). Supposedly they match very good with the hybrid Pathos Classic One MKII amplifier I am also got from audiogon (this time with paypal-already on the way). I had an audition 2-3 months ago and I really liked them. My room isnt big so they should sound good. If I get them I can arrange for a mini meet.

Dimitrius:

I still think you should give it another week (7 business days minimum) before you attempt to contact the seller via phone. I also think that you will be OK with this transaction based on the information you provided to us. Good luck.

I called my bank today and I was forwarded to a call service center. After I have explained what happened they told me that nothing can be done.

I guess all I have to do it wait now. I checked the sellers address on google earth and it looks like a nice house with a swimming pool and everything.

I would wait a while, and like others have said, it may be because it takes awhile to deposit into his account.

My friend was in a somewhat similar situation, albeit with a lower amount of money. He bought some RAM off of craigslist and paid using USPS Money order (yeah I know, the worse possible combination). Anyways, after paying, the guy never emailed back or anything, my friend did have his address and all that. He waited a month and contacted the local PD in our town who informed him he has to file a complaint with the local PD where the person was located. My friend was in FL and the seller was located, somewhere in Orange country, CA. I think you can look up about filing a complaint online depending on the county. Long story short, not sure if the PD there gave the guy a visit or called him, but the seller contacted my friend not long after and said he was 'out of town' and just got back; sent over the RAM as well. I think that the police don't have too much authority depending on the circumstance and it's more of a scare tactic, but it usually motivates most people.

Anyways, something to think about, but I would give the guy some more time.
