The Fiio E7 is more than enough for them. I use the Fiio E11 with my Beyers, and it's absolutely great (my source when portable is a Sansa Fuze). If you need something that will work both with a computer (via USB) and as a portable option, then the E7 (or the upcoming E17) would be more appropriate. Also, as an alternative, the ibasso DZERO.

Very best,

I wouldn't get upset about a couple of negative reviews.

For every negative experience that is written in a review on the interwebs there are tens if not hundreds of very positive experiences that don't get written up.

I'm in a very similar position to you and I'm considering the DT770's too (along with AudioTechnica M50S and Ultrasone Pro 550), although for the Beyers I was leaning more towards the 250ohms since they're gonna be coupled with an amp.

frome what i hear, the sound on the 80 ohms in general is better.
people sugest the 80 ohm.but again, every ear is diffarent...on sunday i am going to drive 150km to the nearest city that have a nice music store that sell beyer 770,i will listen to the 250 ohm and 80 versions, and also they have the sennheiser hd25 and some akg.
than i can give myself and you a better opinion on the 250 and 80 ohms versions. :)

I would be pretty impressed if you heard an appreciable difference between the 80ohm & 250ohm headphone, assuming both are powered sufficiently.

Very best,

Take this advice with a grain of salt, but you might consider the Beyerdynamic DT 1350 which seems to be a direct challenger to the HD25 - 1 ii or the new update on the HD25 - 1 ii, which is more easily driven while achieving the same sound according to the representative.

Headfi has a video comparison of the two.

I've loved my DT 770 80 ohm's for well over a year now. They isolate to a degree more than I've ever needed. (Side note: they are extremely durable. I've lugged them all over the place and they haven't faltered at all).

Best of luck
