Hey guys I recently got into this whole high-end audio business and I just wanted your opinions about which earbuds I should get. I don't like the in-ears at all they cause me too much discomfort (make my eyes water to be honest lol). Atm I got a pair of Sennheiser MX80 which i listen to on the go but i have been reviewing three different options.

The first is the Sennheiser MX980 the second is the 9Wave NW-STUDIO PRO and finally the last option is the Yuin PK1. I listen to rock mainly and a bit of house/electro (no dub step i hate that stuff) and I will be running it through a Firestone Audio Fireye Mini amp.

Out of these three which one should I go for?? (also if anyone has any other suggestions for other high end ear buds that aren't in ears then that would be great).

The thread below should be able to help you out some, but I would suggest you take another look at in-ears. If they made your eyes water, or were uncomfortable at all, you probably had the wrong tips and need to just do a little experimenting, or your ear canal was just too little for whatever iems you had. Don't let one bad apple ruin them for you. People around here generally agree that earbuds can't touch iems in terms of quality, at least if you get a good seal. Also, be sure to include a price range, and describe the sound that you are looking for as best as you can so that people will be able to better recommend things.

Thanks for that thread, that seems to have given me a bit of insight to how the Yuins and 9Waves sound but says nothing about the Sennheiser MX980s. What I am after is essentially is something around the $200 - $250 price bracket and i'd like for them to have really good detail. Dont really care for bass drowning phones personally but as long as they have detail n punch i'm happy. I know IEMs would be def better in sound and I have given a few diff ones a go like the Rockford Fosgate punch plugs and the Hippo VBs (which werent as bad comfort wise) but i still cant enjoy them fully cos they arent as comfortable as old school buds that Im used to.
