I recommend the DUNU DN1000. It's a 3-way hybrid that has good clarity, solid bass and is easily driven by a modest source. (around $200)  Here is a link to the appreciation thread:

I'm a little late to the game but the westone 3 are on sale for $159.99 on amazon.com. Make sure to select amazon as the seller because there is a 3rd party seller selling them for $160 on amazon.

I had se215 before and wanted se535 but they never go on sale so I spent two days reading and came to the conclusion that westone 3 at that price was no brained for me.

When I read the title, I didn't know that the thread-starter had a price limit in mind otherwise FullCircle probably makes a good argument. And also, those are some good looking ear jewelry.
 
I would pay whatever for an IEM that I thought sounded like a modest pair of loudspeakers. Well, let me rephrase because I wouldn't pay ten thousand dollars. I would pay up to two thousand, but I'd have to hear it first (or be able to get a full refund if I didn't like the sound).
