I hate it when they say "Attempted delivery" when in fact they did NOT

I think CanadaPost is discreetly doing that - never bring parcels to home. Especially to an apartment. I have a quite consistent shipment of parcels to my place and ever since a month or two ago, they never bring any parcels to me anymore and I've gotta pick it up from the PO. They used to leave delivery notification cards, and now they also no longer do that. How in the hell are we suppose to know that there's parcel if they no longer do that? and if we didn't have tracking on hand.

2007/06/18 11:11 HALIFAX, NS Attempted delivery. A delivery notification card was left with pick-up details

They didn't show up at 11:11am! they didn't leave a card! they didn't have the item at the PO by 2pm! man I was at the PO around 7pm and they still didn't have it in the system. When I picked up my parcel today, the lady even dare to tell me that I'm "suppose" to only come after i got the delivery card. I almost screamed at her telling her what's suppose to happen. I was SUPPOSE to get it by 11:11 am yesterday, the item was SUPPOSE to be in the PO by 2pm as stated.

It appears that UPS Canada might now be in contract with Day & Ross. Day & Ross is also those "white glove" delivery guys and they are really good....the guy who came and delivered and picked up my ups parcel has Day & Ross on his uniform...no more stupid UPS logo.

@seaside
that's just plain horrible and rude. I'd have taken down his name and made a complaint about him...I heard that UPS' management is really serious about the delivery guys' attitude despite what those guys actually do.

) that mail carriers are not even bringing packages over a certain size on their routes any more and are just leaving cards for you to go get the package from the post office. The mail vehicles have limited space and with all the online buying and deliveries they don't have the room to transport them.

I once watched my mailman deposit my mail in the box, and when I went out to get it there was a package pickup card in it. I had the same reaction you did because he never even tried to ring the bell. I also expected a FedEx package and didn't get it but the FedEx web site said they tried to deliver it. I had no door sticker, so I called and they said sometimes they don't leave a door sticker if a shady character is loitering around. Right. So how am I supposed to know you tried to deliver it? And the only shady character in my neighborhood is a squirrel.

I guess my reply should have just been 'x2'.

Ah all of this aggro' makes me so very appreciative of Her Majesty's Royal Mail. Even if it is in dire financial ruin atm, they still manage to deliver. We don't have any militant squirrels around here though.

Thank you someone finally mentioned something. This happens all the time and each time i get so freaking worked up with the customer service lady. There have been times I would wait outside expecting a delivery and the person never showed up. I check back online for the confirmation and it says "attempted delivery." Arg

X2

If Royal Mails Parcel Force cannot deliver because we are not at home we can collect from the local Post Office therefore if I know my parcel is to be delivered by RM I do not stay home.

What is really upsetting is the recent USPS rules about new home projects. They no longer deliver/pick-up from a mailbox that's at your actual house. USPS in CA insists on using group mailbox concept, where they set up a tower of mailboxes on the sidewalk on the block. All the residents on the block have to walk to this tower to pick up and post mail.

What's worse, USPS no longer even attempts to deliver any packages to these houses. Unless it's a very small box they can stuff into the bigger mail box at the tower, they don't even bring the boxes or attempt any kind of delivery at home. They just leave the pickup notice in your mailbox.

The last 2 houses I lived in had this messed-up system, and these are in brand new communities of houses in $700K-900K+ range!!

To add to the insult, USPS just raised the price of the stamp again this month to indirectly tax me for their "services." To rub even more salt to the wound, I just paid my quarterly estimated tax ($$$) and the ridiculously high property tax to pay these USPS employees

That is total BS, if I spend that much money on a real house, I should have a REAL mailbox. Otherwise, I'll just keep on living in a condo. What.

Haha, when I was in Seattle, one of the communities house I goes to have this kind of system. I park my car in front of these mailboxes, there's no sign indicating I can't park there. I've got to pick up something from the car and I met with the postman. He parked his car just behind mine. At first he told me that I'm not allowed to park there. I said I'm sorry sincerely, told him I didn't know since I'm from other state and offer him to move my car. Apparently he is a jerk, he said sarcastically Am I really sorry and start making unnecessary comments. I'm not in the mood for confrontation, I left my car there, jot down his car number, took a pic with my cellphone and left him. I filed a complaint the next day.
