I recently built a computer and ordered a lot of parts, including some fairly expensive 512 MB DDR DIMM of Corsair memory (~$128) from newegg. When I received the package, which contained A LOT of stuff, it appeared that the memory was not shipped. I called them up and was promptly sent a new module. I love Newegg, and continue to be highly impressed with their customer service.
Then, three weeks later, I discovered the original memory that I had thought they did not ship amidst some packaging. Apparently it was at the bottom of a box that had also contained my mouse.
I could have easily kept both memory modules, but that's not the type of person that I am. I called up Newegg and explained the situation at least three times to a customer service person to emphasize the fact that I was not returning a defective part, but instead I was going to return a part that I should not have been sent at all. Also, as it was my fault for not checking the packing more carefully, I picked up the return shipping bill (though they offered to get it for me).
I thought that I had successfully explained my situation and they would simply accept the memory without sending out a replacement. But, now I have received an invoice for what appears to be, another FREE replacement memory. Therefore, Newegg seems to be TOO GOOD at making people happy and has once again sent me a memory module that I should not have, as I have not paid for it. What do I do now?
Does this mean that when (if) the memory arrives, I should once again attempt to return it, or should I just keep it? Obviously a part of me wants to keep it, but a bigger part of me knows that I have not paid for this memory, and it should go back (again).
